To be fair, a collision between a bike and a pedestrian is probably a lot less dangerous than a collision between a bike and a car.

OH COME ON, the side-walk isn't for bikes. A bike isn't a car but it certainly IS a vehicle that requires a helmet, —they need their own freakin lanes. I've been pushed and have had bikes pass OVER my feet at least three times. What do you expect pedestrians should use?
