That’s how it works in countries that aren’t America The States or The U.S.

I saw this article a couple days ago, and as a father of four, I cried while I read the article for many reasons. Now I’m about to start tearing up again.

Sorry man, but as you’ve dismissed every last pretty damn horrible thing Trump’s done in the past two years as “trite propaganda”, it’s tough for me to view you as anything other than a Trump apologist. Dubya was and still is a huge pile of shit; you’ll get no argument from me on that matter. But there’s nothing at…

Again you misdirect voting was down among all the races. The issue is about Trump and why 52% voted for Trump. Over 90% of African-Americans figured out not to vote for Trump. So what was the appeal?

Also it’s fun when they comment about the beauty of boobs that feed babies, at that exact moment.

I never covered up because every time I tried little farts would wail like a banshee. That would have been infinitely more distracting, I never did, but I did feel like spiting people sometimes. So open air feeding it was.

As a proud African-American I apologize for not saving the white America from the terrible President most of you voted for /s

“There are racists, misogynists, sexists and now… breastfeedingists?” (from the original article)

A-FUCKING-MEN. I am 8 years on from having to feed anyone with my body and I still remember the exhaustion and stress that comes with being worried that you will be able, and allowed to feed the unreasonable tiny human life you have created.

Actually, your preceding paragraph indicates that this statement is untrue. Your ability to pretend that you aren’t part of the white tribe—that is to say, that you’re white, but not that kind of white—demonstrates that white privilege is alive in you and quite unconsidered.

Doesn’t prove that the article was written in bad faith which is what “virtue signalling” means. You’re arguing that she doesn’t really believe what she’s writing, she’s just saying it for kudos. That’s what the term means. And unless you can share with us Katie Rife’s intimate mental state, you’ve got nothin’.

The margin by which Trump won in Wisconsin was less than the number of people knocked off the rolls beforehand. Voter suppression absolutely swung this to him.

Pointing out that white privilege exists is automatically making it about your personal feelings? It’s automatically virtue signalling?

Again, that’s in the long run (and not for nothing, this administration’s certainly trying - the damages they’re dealing at the judiciary level will be with us for decades barring some serious career-ending missteps by his appointees) to say nothing for the bridges burned.

I’m talking purely at the pre-game level of…

It’s not about your personal emotions. It’s about recognizing that the damage is still done, the fight for equality is not over, and still doing what you can. Nobody cares if you personally feel happy or sad about it, just, you know, help people.

But the point is that of the percentage of white women who did vote, 52% went to Trump. Of the black people who did vote, over 90% of their vote was anti-Trump. The author’s argument is that the percentage of white women should not have been that high. Non-voters are a totally different discussion, though it is a…

The black vote might have been down from the Obama years, but that is to be expected and by and large their turnout was quite good and they voted for Hilary much more consistently than any other demographic. They’re the only group that seemed to “get” that there were bigger things at stake than whatever intra-party…

You really do not get it. It is not hate of “white women”. It is an annoyance when white females do not use their power or privilege to assist woman of color. Look at Anne Hathaway. The root literally praised her for helping a woman of color. Your comment is the purist example of how white women do not understand.

Also, no one in this thread seems to remember this is the first Presidential election since the gutting of the Voting Rights Act. A lot of African-Americans in GOP-run states were knocked off the voting roles.
