That’s the point.  You had an actual crime committed against you (unfortunately, also glad you won!).  There are people that think being the victim means getting sympathy.  So he wants all of that “good feeling” without actually being a victim.

My guess is he wanted exposure. I’ve never heard of him until this scandal, so I guess it worked. Unfortunately for him, he was exposed, so now I’ll forever know him as the actor/singer/director/photographer who faked a hate crime.

I just cannot fathom what he was thinking if this is true. Even when the details got really weird I still wanted to believe him because what’s the gain here?  He is done in so many communities now and he probably destroyed his career.  For what??

That is absolutely the way this judge saw it. He completely disregarded this molester’s sexual battery conviction and focused on his ‘intellectual disability,’ to the detriment of those young girls AND justice. An issue that didn’t make it into the Jez piece: the judge questioned the level of harm both girls suffered…
