Well if you're gonna get technical
Fun fact: MTM is Bonnie Tyler's aunt
What's the big deal with the eclipse? We were plunged into darkness back in January.
"Fuck you you goddamn ROUNDIES"
Perfect!
Can you quote the section where he/she "equated oppressed people standing up for themselves with white nationalists", exactly? That's a pretty outrageous charge. I would love to see your reasoning. All I see is someone saying "violence is not the answer".
Same. And it wasn't even "wrong". It was a fucking joke about eating your feelings, and literally everyone criticizing it are the ones who are "wrong".
That is literally the origin of the phrase. Nice try. Might wanna watch the homophobic shit while pretending to be the wokest.
Agreed. We need to be precise. This will be a messy fight, unfortunately. The good thing is that everyone can pull a reset on a bad doxx, but you can't take back violence.
"Limp-wristed", interesting. Do you regularly go around using homophobic language? That's very Nazi of you, actually.
I'm pretty sure George Carlin, if that's who you're quoting, would think that randomly attacking people with ideologies you don't like is an insane way of defeating an ideology.
That isn't clear at all. Can you elaborate?
Which means what, exactly?
It's actually the discussion itself. There are other mindless, violent ideologies. Take Islamism, for example. Should people use violence on Islamists? What would you say to a person who wanted to punch an Islamist in the head?
The problem with that idea, besides it being illegal, is that it opens the door for violence as a counter measure to any ideology you dont like. I am all for doxxing the fuck outta these guys, but I think violence just begets more violence.
Re: violence, I think that Vice Charlottesville video that went super viral, outing all those fuckers, and that twitter account that named and shamed the individual Nazis, resulting in loss of jobs, loss of any recognizable social status, and in some cases resulting in arrest, were both pretty effective counter…
I think it all depends on who the enemy is. The British, for all the horrors of colonialism, weren't actively trying to exterminate the Indian people. Like I said below, what if he faced ISIS? And, in the face of a un-convincible enemy, is pacifism actually "good"?
I think reformed extremists are the best weapon we have. Have you heard of Maajid Nawaz? He is a reformed Islamist who now spends all his time trying to reform other Islamists. His integrity is fucking rock solid on the subject, and he can talk note for note with any extremist alive. He talks many of them off the…
It's never cut and dry, true. There's a very convincing argument that unfettered pacifism can actually be a morally wrong thing. What if Gandhi faced ISIS, for example? He would have simply offered his entire people up for destruction. What "good" is that?
