When I was growing up, when kids were playing at someone’s house and meal time rolled around, the parent would say “Okay, it’s time for everyone to go home. We’re going to be having lunch/dinner.” unless it was an overnight or something.

In a perfect world...but it’s a little stalkery finding the profile in the first place. Better to do the note thing and leave your details.

Oh stop that. It’s simple, cheap ingredients for very little money. Let the people have what they like.

Great article, and thank you for not making this a slideshow!

Yeah, it’s fast food, and 200% more “Tex” than “Mex.”

I lived in a small town in Kansas for a few years that had a Taco Johns. I’d never heard of it before, but choices being limited, we tried it. Considering that when we first moved there the choices were between this and Taco Bell, this one quickly became the favourite. It’s not the greatest, but it’s actually pretty

I really enjoyed it, but if I had one criticism it would be that it didn’t make enough of the potential of the multiversal traversal (hey, that rhymes!).

I’ve never met a group of people who are as insecure about anything as New Yorkers are about their pizza. Like to the point that I’m surprised that there is actually a lot of great pizza in New York. You’d figure they could just let the quality speak for itself.

Make sure that your pan is hot, and evenly so, and use a decent amount of fat or oil with it. Also keep in mind that no matter what people like Dennis (or literally everyone over on r/castiorn) say, the pan is not going to be “nonstick”. It might be less-stick than others, but for some things (eggs, in particular if

Not to mention the fact that most of the takes are pretty bad.

Food should be well-seasoned already

I know this is just the way this whole family of sites are going, but I find it a real bummer the increase of headlines/articles to the effect of “this is the only right way” or “you’re doing it wrong”. It seems unnecessarily divisive and more mean-spirited than the culture/style that got me to read the Takeout in the

I haven’t gone yet, but I think people have identified that bags labeled “Black Fungus” at the Korean market are wood ear...I’d have to visually inspect them to verify on my own.

When I buy dried wood ear it’s labeled as black fungus. I’ve seen it sold as cloud fungus or tree ear. You’re likely familiar with it as the dark, curly ingredient in hot and sour soup.

Hmm. I live near Joong Boo (the Avondale location) and am there frequently, I’ll double check. Wood ear is also called “Jew’s Ear” and I’ve seen it labeled as such in other places, but if I see it, I’ll try to comment back and let you know! If you head to 88 Marketplace in Pilsen/Chinatown you might be able to find it

Try a more Chinese-focused store, maybe. 88 Marketplace in Pilsen has about a quarter of an aisle dedicated to various packages of wood ears, mostly labeled as such.

Excellent rant.

I’ve never understood the criticism of this movie, which basically comes down to...the marketing was shit; like that has anything to do with the movie itself.

I thought the movie was a lot of fun.  Even though it wasn’t a great film, I was always disappointed that there wasn’t going to be a sequel.  Because it needed a sequel.

It’s kinda sad whenever I hear how bad this bombed because my Dad unironically loves the movie, and quite honestly it’s nothing even that bad. It’s pretty fun, if a little campy and weird in spots.
