I lived in a small town in Kansas for a few years that had a Taco Johns. I’d never heard of it before, but choices being limited, we tried it. Considering that when we first moved there the choices were between this and Taco Bell, this one quickly became the favourite. It’s not the greatest, but it’s actually pretty

I’ve never met a group of people who are as insecure about anything as New Yorkers are about their pizza. Like to the point that I’m surprised that there is actually a lot of great pizza in New York. You’d figure they could just let the quality speak for itself.

Make sure that your pan is hot, and evenly so, and use a decent amount of fat or oil with it. Also keep in mind that no matter what people like Dennis (or literally everyone over on r/castiorn) say, the pan is not going to be “nonstick”. It might be less-stick than others, but for some things (eggs, in particular if

Not to mention the fact that most of the takes are pretty bad.

Food should be well-seasoned already

I know this is just the way this whole family of sites are going, but I find it a real bummer the increase of headlines/articles to the effect of “this is the only right way” or “you’re doing it wrong”. It seems unnecessarily divisive and more mean-spirited than the culture/style that got me to read the Takeout in the

I haven’t gone yet, but I think people have identified that bags labeled “Black Fungus” at the Korean market are wood ear...I’d have to visually inspect them to verify on my own.

When I buy dried wood ear it’s labeled as black fungus. I’ve seen it sold as cloud fungus or tree ear. You’re likely familiar with it as the dark, curly ingredient in hot and sour soup.

Hmm. I live near Joong Boo (the Avondale location) and am there frequently, I’ll double check. Wood ear is also called “Jew’s Ear” and I’ve seen it labeled as such in other places, but if I see it, I’ll try to comment back and let you know! If you head to 88 Marketplace in Pilsen/Chinatown you might be able to find it

Try a more Chinese-focused store, maybe. 88 Marketplace in Pilsen has about a quarter of an aisle dedicated to various packages of wood ears, mostly labeled as such.

Excellent rant.

For gods sake - stop posting the same thing in *every* thread.   Neither of those sources back up the claim made in the headline - did you actually read them?

“Well Bublé doesn’t work, so now it’s Bubbly”. Hamm is a treasure.

Now playing

You picked the wrong Jon Hamm Sketch. For my money, you can’t beat Hamm & Bublé.

It’s comedy sketches about food, which isn’t out of character for this site that I’ve been visiting for years. Maybe you’re looking for simplyrecipes.com or something?

I loved that show. It seemed so grown up to me as a little ape.

Tomatoes, both delicious and historically badass

They still have the ability to strip medals down the road based upon additional investigation.  So a possible case here is Valieva wins, there is no ceremony, and a few months down the line it’s taken away.  We can hope.

This is not a well researched article based on fair comparisons (shocking for Jezebel, I know.)

There’s a hundred different angles you can look at this story from, but both the article and most of these comments aren’t really taking into account how this has actually played out. The IOC itself (not to unilaterally defend the IOC, they’re weird and fucked for any other number of reasons) seemingly wants to ban
