I’m white, and that is probably why, but I actually thought “woke” was an alt-right word meaning not to believe the mainstream media or some such nonsense. I had therefore kind of boycotted it and assumed any white guy using it is was a moron. Actually, it’s probably still safe to assume the last part.

At least you’re honest about it.

Trump is Cartman with the intelligence of Butters.

I hate the “it’s history” argument. It is beyond ignorant. Statues have nothing to do with statues. We put up statues to honor people and ideas; to cast them in a positive light. What precisely do we want to honor about the confederacy?

I think you’re being a little hyperbolic.

To each their own, but in my opinion this attitude is a big problem with modern politics on both sides. We can disagree without hating each other.

I can respect Mccain even if I don’t agree with his politics.

Michael did a “white people” disclaimer recently that I thought was great:

When I first started reading the Root, I got a little defensive in a comment thread. Someone gave me the best piece of unsolicited advice:

I was just thinking of ways I can slyly slip these tidbits into the conversation.

Satire: noun

Most white people have a great sense of humor until the jokes are about white people.

Or is she?

“I am not entirely sure what emails are, therefore I am terrified of them and will not vote for anyone associated with them.”

I’m not quite that fatalistic, but I understand the sentiment. What kills me is that these are relatively intelligent people. They still fall to cognitive bias (is that the right term?) every time. If they dislike a celebrity or politician, they will believe every negative thing they hear about them. The same works in

I know right? I have told a few people online on sites like this and people think I’m trolling. If I saw someone else post this, I would assume they were just trolling. I promise you I am not. I assume most Trump and Republican voters aren’t actually this insane, but it’s 2017. Who knows anymore?

Two weeks ago my in laws tried to convince me Obama is involved in a conspiracy, right now, to kill all the white people in the US to make room for his Muslim friends to immigrate here. This is why it is so important we back president Trump as he is the only one defending us from Obama and the foreign hordes.

It surely is a double edged sword. I was also a bit mixed up on the meaning of the word condoning here too.

You know, I don’t even really care what they think anymore. They are in the minority. The base is dying off faster than it’s growing. Trump won only because enough factors came together at the same time to let it happen. In other words, he and republicans got lucky. That’s it. If that wasn’t true you wouldn’t see them

I’m not even sure why, but your comment made me laugh out loud. I think it was the visual imagery of Pence screaming and kicking someone, maybe his mother, in between the legs.
