I know it’s a bit of a cliche for losing finalists to warmly celebrate a winner in a talent show, but Bake Off is the one show where you truly believe the emotions.  Crystelle’s face when Giuseppe’s name was announced is the kind of thing that gives you hope for the human race.

I am looking forward to the conclusion of this series.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I haven’t missed Kate McKinnon at all this season. She was a breath of fresh air in her early seasons, but probably should’ve left after her 2016 Hilary Clinton run. Since then, it’s been repetitious to the extreme.

My big take-away?

Reshooting at least 10% of these movies is pretty normal now, along with tons of ADR stuff. Avengers: Endgame’s principal photography lasted about 5 months (20 weeks), with reshoots for about five weeks total after that. 6 weeks is a bit more than usual, but still not bad considering the Covid disruption. 

The first season is good. They made a fatal mistake trying to continue the story beyond that. Like, there’s a murder, you solved the murder, secrets were exposed, relationships were shattered, nothing will never be the same again, the story is complete. 

In other roles, Whittaker’s more than proven she’s a great actor. But I doubt Denzel Washington could sell half the stuff happening in Chibnall’s scripts.

I get what you’re saying but this episode had a great moment where the Doctor was getting pissy with Yaz, and to me highlighted just how good Whittaker can be, and I definitely blame Chibnall for her being okay but rarely nothing more than that.

I’m not a lobster fan, but I don’t think it generally gets seasoned a lot. Cracked out of the shell and dipped in butter is what I’ve seen with an actual lobster, so not surprising that a lobster roll gets similar treatment.

Goddamn, is this really it for Colin Robinson? He never got the answers he was looking for. In hindsight it definitely explains why Lazlo was suddenly buddy buddy with Colin. Although he does seem to have turned over a new leaf with all the friends he’s made during this last season.

The little looks they give are so fun to watch—I appreciated Mags ability to smile sincerely through every disaster, while being cheeky, and Giuseppe’s surprised expression when they told him he had 90 minutes to make the Sticky Toffee looked like he just learned he was chosen for The Squid Game.

For starters, I loved the rendition of the opening song. The way they’re playing with the intro (Lazlo playing them in on the piano was another favorite moment) is deeply amusing me.

So this is Wyatt Cenac’s Problem Areas, but chopped down to a 1 hour segment?

Now you just need to do a Brandy Alexander to complete the Wisconsin Supper Club vibe.
