I went on a lot of prednisone a few years ago, and I have some pretty insane stretch marks all over now... they are really wide and all over my love handles, boobs, thighs, etc... I dread the idea of being naked with a guy now =/

I think maybe New Orleans? I was in high school... I think I remember trying to watch Las Vegas or whatever the next season was, and it had just devolved into something completely different and I was really sad about it. I used to love the Real World. :(
Tangentially related question: has anyone here ever dated a male stripper? If so, were they very good in bed? Just, ahem, wondering...
He was also 25 at the time and never worked a day in his life (he always tried to say that his internship was real work though). His family... I have never seen wealth on that level in my life. His dad owned a hospital, owned a commuter jet, would give his sisters plastic surgery for birthday presents if they…
No not rambling! You put it more eloquently than I did, you're so spot on. I also hate it when people talk about soldiers like that... often times by self described "liberals". But reducing troops to scum like that is just as bad as any rhetoric you see coming out of Rush Limbaugh. It is truly awful. I've also meet…
I'll never forget the time I accidentally caught a glimpse of my ex-boyfriend's checking account balance open on his laptop screen one day. "$647,000". In CHECKING. We broke up years ago but it still boggles my mind when I remember it. (And he paid with a personal check for every semester at Columbia, natch.)
I'm not involved in the art world, but an ex was... I still find it kind of insane that all the big NYC galleries go up to Yale regularly to just sign artists directly from their MFA studios. Everyone else (equally or more talented) works their asses off for years, even decades, without having much success but these…
I had this incident last year where some guy was trying to break into my bedroom window while I was asleep... miraculously, the cops managed to get him. But the most traumatizing part of the whole thing wasn't the attempted break-in, but watching some drugged out kid getting arrested and thinking "holy shit. he's so…
That might be the best description I've heard about this. Totally gonna steal it :)
Oh god, YES. I live on another coast now and have a lot of friends who are roughly on the same path in life as me (30ish, single, grad school) and who have my same sense of humor. Whenever I go back to my small hometown and visit friends, it is so weird and awkward to have to sit around with a group of women who talk…
Oh, I wish I could star this a LOT. You are so right. It's so awkward to have to sit in that circle of girlfriends while the guys are off yukking it up and talking about all their funny college stories. And then on the drive home with your boyfriend/husband you feel like you have to say "yeah, Mike's girlfriend is…
Ugh. My friend and her new husband recently had a housewarming party, and it was literally the girls' room where we were all sitting around watching rom coms, while the guys were at the other end of the house. The whole time! I tried going over to the guy side and NO ONE would talk to me. It was like I was invisible.
Yeah, definitely. Plus I feel like there's this kind of 'script' for small talk that we all follow, and of course it's highly gendered. Kind of like how a lot of women will say "oh, I love your shirt!" as an icebreaker... it's just what we have been taught to do.
I know this is a gigantic generalization, but I do think that on the whole women tend to have closer friendships than men. I can see why a lot of men who are inclined toward those kinds of bonds would find it easier to be friends with women.
I wish I had an easy answer for this, but for me it wasn't until grad school that I suddenly went "OMG!! Other girls like me!!" I've also been to grad school in very urban areas, so I'm not sure if that has more to do with it. I've also met cool gals at work. Bottom line, at least for me, is that I've always had to…
I am confused about this too, and have been looking to see if anyone else has been asking about this... I just kinda don't see how it would work.
That's the first thing I thought of when I saw this story.
Aw shucks. You were NOT inarticulate! I think sometimes when 'pseudoscience' is brought up, people just have this visceral reaction to the entire culture of antivaxxers and whatnot, and end up ferociously attacking any point of view construed as defending alternative/homeopathic med. And I totally get it, and agree…
I went to a talk by a guy at Harvard who does placebo effect studies... it was absolutely riveting. He essentially told participants in a study "You are taking a placebo. It is a sugar pill and will do nothing for you," and they still saw improvements with significant illnesses. (His name is Ted Kaptchuk, in case…
Does anyone have a link to photos of L'Wren Scott when she was a model in the 90's? It sounds like she had a pretty successful runway career when she was younger, but I can't seem to find any photos online. She was such a striking woman.
