"Sure, if I was in a monogamous relationship with a guy and we got tested together, and I was on the pill, and he continued to insist on using condoms, then I might feel the need to question him — like, "What skanks are you fucking behind my back?" sort of vibes."

I'm not snarking them because I don't like the parent (where I live, Palin is pretty irrelevant). I'm snarking on the Christian values thing. But then I'm lucky to live somewhere which - despite having a state religion - is more secular than the US and this whole "shotgun wedding" thing doesn't happen so much. Plus we

Geordies are people from Newcastle, not Manchester!

Track & Britta, divorced at 22/23 with a kid! Awww, marriage is a sacred institution indeed!

Oh absolutely! It's the assumption that I must hate them that grates with me.

Same here, and I'm in my 30s too. I remember when my body type was seen as slutty.

I think it's a case of wanting people to join them in their misery. Similarly, my mum really regrets becoming financially dependent on my dad & giving up her career. But what does she want from me? Marry marry marry NOW! ANY MAN WILL DO! LOOK, THAT ONE THERE IS SINGLE! It's tragic!

Fair enough, but it really chaps my ass that people assume I hate kids because I don't want any. I like kids, I just don't want any coming out of my vagina.

Haha, I love this!

Fat acceptance doesn't actively try to dis-encourage (is that a word?) from losing weight, though (if that's what you meant?). It definitely doesn't encourage people to stay fat if they hate being fat and can't be at peace with themselves.

Fair enough, adults do have the choice or turning away, but I don't think the kids do. Plus I don't trust the producers of the show to in any way accommodate their growing bodies.

IMHO I don't think they are - if a nutritionist tries to help them, how much is that person managing to teach them before the producers jump in and say "no no no, don't listen to that".

Which the show does not teach! It's not about nutrition - it's about winning a contest.

Also, if you read the article linked to in this article:

I don't know exactly (I guess it depends on the contestants) but in this article by the former host of TBL Australia, the winner of the first season gamed the system by restricting himself to as little as 200 a day http://findingmymojo.com/its-time-cut-crap-2/

Hearted!

No, the show doesn't teach proper nutrition, it's all about very low-calorie dieting. The contestants aren't supported after the show - in fact they have to sign waivers agreeing not to talk about the reality of the show, on pain of fines. Contestants have been known to game the system by gaining water weight &

Except that TBL doesn't (always?) advocate healthy weight loss. This article by the presenter of TBL Australia is very telling: http://findingmymojo.com/its-time-cut-crap-2/

I just had an ablation two weeks ago. Fingers crossed, this means no periods (or lighter periods) for me for the next few years. I have endometriosis, so my periods are sheer hell. Please please please let this work for me!

Icky conflation there between childless people & childless couples. Not all people who have children are in couples; and personally I'm a childless single person.
