That’s not how power works. Speakers are given an efficiency rating, which largely dictates how much power they will require for a given playback volume. Also, the lower the frequency, the more power required - this is why subwoofers often come self-powered with hundreds (sometimes over 1000) watts. They need that

I will concur. I am a semi-audiophile. I cannot make audio systems a priority, and like many other things, there comes a point where the incremental sound improvement generally does not justify the cost.

Here’s the layout.

Front Dash: 2 tweeters on A pillars, center speaker on dash.
Front Doors: 1 midrange and 1 woofer per door
Ceiling: 4 overhead speakers above each outboard head.
Rear Door: 1 midrange per door
Rear Dash: 2 midranges and 2 subwoofers.

Audio is about more than throwing speakers at you, you need to tune them

If you feel you’re a golden ear, I would suggest you go check this or the RDX with the Studio 3D stereo out. I have quite a few different reference points for audio (High end Over in, In Ear headphones, Powered Monitors, 7.2 Home Theatre) and completed an Audio Engineering program over a few years where we mixed and

I don’t mind the conversational format, but it is kind of weird to read. Maybe, in the future, instead of all the AC/RC notations, just put the question in normal text and the answer in italics?

Rory, do you have any actual experience with decent home audio gear? What does your home setup consist of? What about high end car audio? Simply curious, as someone without significant experience might think this sounds amazing, when, in reality, it’s very mediocre.

Seriously. The grille IS the problem. I honestly hadn’t even noticed the headlights and even looking at them now, they’re fine. That grille on the other hand...

I don’t think the headlights are the problem. The majority of the front end is covered with grills. It has gotten to the point where you cannot mount the plate anywhere but on the grill (I know, move to where you don’t need a front plate...blah blah blah!!!). Now if you tell me you need all those grills for cool and

Part of me is actually wondering if I’d rather be seen in a Civic Type R (in black to hide the fake grills, of course)

I was shocked when I heard about him and then saw that he hadn’t been written about extensively. I am working on other things about him that I can’t be specific about. But, in the meantime, check out these two things if you’ve already:

I love that you got to see that car in-person! Thanks for your comment and for toasting Jim.

That’s such a nice tribute, David. Thank you for lifting up this honorable, beautiful man. I can still hear his voice more than 50 years later. He moved his family into our lily-white neighborhood in 1967. I was a young boy then, fascinated by his blue Austin Healey Sprite—and then I learned he raced it! I’d see him

I was planning to sell my manual 135i because I have too many cars. Yesterday, I took it out on a spirited drive in the santa cruz mountains - to pick up 50 lbs of tomatoes - with the kids. One of them threw up. But I had a goddamned blast and changed my mind on the sale.

Yes! I did. In fact, the day I learned of his passing, I went for a drive and listened to it because I just needed to hear his voice. I cried a lot that morning. But when I listened, I just smiled and laughed as he told his stories. I absolutely love when he mentions to someone that he parked Orville Wright’s car.

Matt doesn’t just need something calming. He needs something light-hearted and charming. Serious cars are never light-hearted. They’re serious - even when they’re supposed to be fun and entertaining to drive. GTIs are serious about what they do. T-Birds are serious about what they do. Lexuseseses are serious about

Hey guys,

My new trillionaire fantasy is going to Mitsubishi and being like “call anyone who worked on the Pajero Dakar program 20 years ago and build me a singular brand-new street-legal SUV with a hilarious engine/transmission combo. Here’s two million bucks to get the ball rolling.”
