Yeah. There’s going to be a really big shit show going on in a year and a half when all these folks are underwater on loans they cant afford anymore. The strategy of building wealth through saving is going to have its day soon.

The market is absolutely bonkers right now. Several absurd data points, all from Carmax offers:

1st Gear: Normally when prices are inflated, people move to the used car market, but dealerships are also buying up a lot of the used car stock at the moment. Because of the auto-centric design of most of the country, most people need cars, so they’re kind of force into paying these prices.

Conventional wisdom says there’s an upward limit for how much people and dealerships (which are also people, according to the highest court in our land) will be willing to pay before saying enough is enough.

You guys need to read each other’s work, it would save a lot of time.

That’s a significant portion of this site’s content anymore: the poster comes up with a question, and then our answers become the content. We’re providing the material for the site we visit.

You’re just going to make a slideshow out of the responses, aren’t you?

I have to wonder whether the universe is trying to send me a sign:

I was gonna vote NP, but then I saw the bit about the seller cancelling a previous sale and jacking up the price. Now it is a solid ND for the jackass seller.

At the end of the day, though, none of this really matters. No matter the brand, most customers will likely never venture off-road in these vehicles — which is why so many brands can keep creating “off-roading” SUVs that are all bark and no bite.

Frankly, a LSD, skids plates and a bit more ground clearance is all most people need to get a bit more outdoorsy. The target market for the “overlanding look” is people who want to drive on some dirt roads and camp off the grid...... No one buying a timberline is taking it to MOAB and running rock crawling trails.

The issue isn’t the punching down, so much--I think that anything can be made funny. It’s just that they fancied themselves prophets more than comedians, which meant they spent a lot of time going all Howard Beale and increasingly less time, y’know, being funny.

I know people love those two comedians and they are influential, but goddamn did they punch down hard and frankly that gets tiring.  Its not clever or funny, it's not like those two excuse the behavior but if your going to be like this at the very least be entertaining.

People go on about touchy-feely liberal clapter, but it’s always the edgy anti-PC crowd who give these tedious, preachy speeches. It’s the same kind of persecution complex that made late-period Lenny Bruce and Bill Hicks so exhausting.

Didn’t mean to hit them and run them over, definitely meant to harm them physically and emotionally. Also definitely meant to do it with an illegally modified vehicle. Hopefully it’s a stern lesson.

This just in: individual shows have lower ratings in a time where we have nigh-limitless options for entertainment.

1st Gear: This is an excellent example of how stupid American politics have become. Driving an electric vehicle shouldn’t be a political issue. Divesting from fossil fuels to preserve the environment shouldn’t be a political issue.

It’s almost criminal how good those steelies look.

Modern “conservatives” are not really conservatives in any meaningful sense of the term. They are a poisonous mix of bigots, proudly ignorant, corporate pirates, general tantrumers, and fucking objectivists. They’d rather tear down America than take pride in its achievements and institutions. I’d say they are hellbent
