SMOD was only on 2nd gen autos. This is a 1st gen manual.

It is a pinch too high for me for any ‘ol Xterra, but, for me, it ticks all my wishlist boxes:
Green
Manual
Supercharged (which gives it enough power, but dismal MPG, much like all Nissan trucks/SUVs)

The brush guard may have to go, as it just looks like a damage

No supercharger, which is not necessarily a bad thing but a significant power difference and far less rare

Right there with you. I always loved the Xterra and wanted one badly when they came out - especially in yellow. This one is probably too high up there in years and miles to be reliable transport, and maybe priced a little too high for someone interested in building an off-roading toy. Not familiar with the current

So I just looked up the specs on this thing. Should do about 30mpg on the highway and it has a 23.8 gallon tank — so that’s about 700 miles between fillips. And this “beast” weighs in at just 3836 lbs. A 2024 911 Turbo is just a few pounds behind at 3646. Crazy.

Yes, or the owners are people for whom a few thousand dollars is pocket change, so quick conversation “we really should sell the old diesel since nobody drives it anymore” “ok, I will take it to the shop and have the maintenance done” tells local shop guy who they use and trust to get it ready to sell. $5000 later car

Or, when it went in for the fuel pump, the shop gave him a list of items it would need shortly and he figured better get out while the getting is good. Smacks a bit of pricing to recover his repair costs. To me this is a high 5k, low 6k car at best.

My guess is, that fuel pump went or was on it’s way out the door, and it’s way easier to sell a running car than a non-running one. Add in the glow plugs (not really up on diesels, but maybe you do that at the same time as a pump normally, or maybe after 184k miles, they were on their last legs as well?), the cost of

I’ve had a few of these over the years and they are getting harder and harder to find. Mechanically, absolute tanks. The main killer is rust, and sometimes transmission issues...but 95% its rust. This looks rust free, and 185k is nothing on the mechanical bits. Easy NP, these are delightful to drive, work on, and go

My goodness, that’s a great-looking car! Now, I bet it needs about 5k or so in repairs - maybe a repaint, maybe an engine overhaul, I dont know. Still, maybe a totally irrational, NP.

I sold cars for Mitsubishi in 2002, between my junior and senior year of college. You talk about the brand’s hay day? Yikes, we were on top of the world... every car had its own song featured in its commercial (most notably, the infamous ‘Days Go By’ Eclipse one with the eppileptic chick in the passenger seat).

This makes sense, but your vote is really ND then. I don’t think it’s reasonable to assume you’ll just drop 25% off their asking price, (even if that’s a legitimate response)

I went NP but only becasue I think of that as the starting point. If it passes a PPI, everything works, and you negotiate down to $10K I think it’s a solid alternative to the ubiquitous Land Rovers and 4Runners out there. 

Great truck, bad price. The dealer most likely knows the truck’s true worth, but added an extra $4K in case a fool comes in and pays near full price.  

Nooope. Wrong generation Montero at the laughably wrong price. Sorry bub, whatever that finance guy at the Mitsubishi dealer did to get you to bend over for a subprime loan at a ridiculous interest rate is on you should be considered a sunk cost. Ridiculous.

There’s a certain slab-sided boxiness that seems to put some old SUVs into the sought-after stratosphere. For the Montero, you’d need to go back at least one generation to get that look. For under $10K, this one could be a great bargain family truckster, but ND at nearly $13K.

Mitsubishi makes fine vehicles (they are a worldwide manufacturer for decades). Excellent example. It’s a $8k vehicle at best. Maybe it’s the California tax that ups the price.
