This alone has me questioning the stewardship of this car. Also, why two sets of floor mats? ND.

I enjoyed your voting section references to Exene and her Punk Rock cohorts in X(the band not Muskwitter). This BMW has less chance of becoming a Fireball XL5 than a Tesla. High miles don’t scare me, but I’m from SoCal the rust-free belt. I expected Style 69 wheels to be more Yin-Yangy. Hey, 3k for 5spd 3 pedal blk on…
Every used car is for sale because somebody thinks he would be better off with the money than with the car. The buyer’s job is to figure out why.
Note the complete lack of undercarriage photos.
Regardless of NP/ND kudos to this owner for using it up. Slow claps....
At least my experience with cars under $3500 is that if they aren’t actively trying to murder you, they are a NP.
I say this as someone with lots of wrenching experience on this era of mid to full size BMWs and also with an excellent and reasonably priced indie German auto mechanic but this is nice price all the way. I have a 10 year old X5 diesel with almost 150K miles on the clock that has virtually no rattles or squeaks,…
This is a fun novelty for $3k, and I’m sure if you showed up with $2k the guy would probably take it. Possibly the easiest NP of 2024
Sure, why not? Amazing it’s not rusty. It must have only recently arrived in NH from someplace warm, where it was kept in a garage whenever it wasn’t racking up miles.
Seems like a good starting point to teach your kid to drive a stick, then throw the whole thing away a year later when the clutch gives up the ghost.
for 3k? yes why not.
Worst case it will be worth as much in spare parts.
Maybe it’s a Tesla boat.
This is actually what autopilot is in the marine world. It either maintains a constant direction for you, or follows a string of waypoints that you set for it. No throttle control either. Whatever you come across between two points is the person at the helm’s responsibility.
Low hanging fruit would be to compare it to a certain automaker.
YOLO indeed. I’m currently reading a bio of Enzo Ferrari, and the number of people who died driving wacky, experimental, Wile E. Coyote machines is staggering.
I always find it a bit sad when cars just sit unmoving in a museum for decades. The best museums USE their cars!
I’ve driven a Model T, which was slightly newer than this, but still over 100 years old at the time. It was more exciting at 20mph than most modern cars at 140.
I’m not young, and would never want to own one, but the thing I think is fun about them is like cars of this era were all wildly different in how you operate them. Today we have it down, steering wheel, gas, brake, clutch, and gear selector. Back then they were like YOLO and tried all kinds of wild stuff. Throttle in…
Fully agree with getting these things out and about instead of as static displays. The Wheels Through Time Museum here in NC makes sure all of their bikes/cars (and an airplane!) are all in running condition. Their slogan is “The Museum That Runs” for good reason. They can take anything on display and run it with…
Be sure to spend time with the local wildlife.
