No Steve Gutenberg was EXTREMELY HOT, at least to 14 year old gay boy me. I was like, now when is he taking off his shirt again?

Well, this is a pop culture website where people discuss why they like / don’t like something, so it’s par for the course. There is no quietly not caring for something here, and, personally, I like it. That’s why I come here, to read and express opinions on pop culture.

Yeah, they don’t really believe in the christian version of Satan, I’d wager. It’s just the aesthetics they like.
Then there’s the pagan version of Satan, the Earth god who just wants humanity to have fun vs. the scolding christian god who sets up impossible standards of purity that people will inevitably fall short

It’s so hard to kick benzos and you did it cold turkey? Man, that’s hard core. Congrats on getting clean. My mom was really into benzos, and I saw the negative effects over the course of her life. I’ve only taken a couple of Xanex over the years and fucking loved it. It’s the only thing that really took away the

That’s very interesting and reminds me of the pay difference between Michelle Williams and Mark Wahlberg in All the Money In the World. The reasoning for paying him so highly was that he’s a box office draw. But not for that kind of movie. That’s the kind of movie where Michelle Williams is the draw. I saw it because

It’s interesting. During the time period you mentioned (1996-2007) I was recently out of college and really struggling financially. It took until my 40s to get my career going ... oddly enough right around 2008 . Money was always an issue for me. And yet back then I really, really enjoyed seeing movies about people

To each their own. I love movies about rich, beautiful people. But I also enjoy movies about people who aren’t rich or conventionally attractive. I don’t know. Escapism is important to me in my entertainment. I like to be, you know, entertained. But that’s just me.

I love this! Cannonball Run was in constant rotation on HBO when I was a kid and I loved it so much. Your whole dream cast is great, but Lucy Lawless is an absolute must for this reboot.

Couldn’t agree with you more. Calling out someone for not being critical of someone else’s work in a very particular way is ridiculous, and it’s getting tiring, especially in this case when the lack of POC in the first season of Girls has been discussed at length. And great things came of that discussion! Since the

Excellent, excellent comment! This is what I come to the AV Club for. Thank you.

I watched Dark Shadows every day one summer in the 80s when it was rerunning on a local channel and I definitely think it could have been both a good movie and satisfied fans.

It’s weird how both the series and book have such an anti-adoption vibe. Maybe that’s putting it too strongly ... but that’s the feeling I got from it.

Agreed that they didn’t earn that ending. It just felt like “let’s throw in a twist for the sake of having a twist”. The pleasure in that ending in the book was that

I agree with your assessment. Those churches definitely teach that sexual attraction is unimportant. He’s just now realizing that it is actually important.

In my experience CBD only works in conjunction with THC. Doesn’t have to be a lot of THC, just about 5%. The two compounds work together.

I think there is some research to back this up? But I know that I’ve used straight up CBD for my anxiety / insomnia and it’s done nothing, but with a little TCH I feel calm and ready

Oldham’s character seemed so sad to me, I couldn’t imagine anyone seeing him any other way. Heroic? He’s homeless, right?

There are parts in Nanette that are hilarious. Gadsby is very funny. Like natureslayer said, she’s funny when she wants to be.

Oh this one. Can’t say I liked it. Bond is such a fuckup. Everyone he tries to protect dies. Not to mention that Underground train disaster. Was all that on purpose? Were they telling a story about how someone with confidence and charisma can rise to the top of his field even when fucking up all the time? Or did they

Couldn’t agree more. It’s not just him, though, it’s the tone of the movies themselves. So serious. So grim. Could be any spy / action movie.

Having the “bad” bond girl turn out to be the main villain would be fucking amazing.

Well, I rate Bond movies on the Bond girls alone, so TWINE is probably my least favorite of all time, while TND is my favorite, because of Michelle Yoeh. That motorcycle scene is stunning.
