I use a Bissell steamer, same brand liquid soap cleaner for pets, and Oxyclean powder.  I dissolve the powder ahead of time so that it is all dissolved.  Combine both the soap and oxy, it has so far cleaned ALL stains that have graced my now old white carpet.
