Because who better represents modern evangelical Christianity than a 4x married self-righteous bigot.

Well post-treatment implies that she was properly treated, no? There are people who take the antiobiotics after they get the bullseye rash and then essentially live normal lives. Then there are people who were not properly treated when they got the bullseye rash and years later are suffering. Is the term for the

Thank you. My girlfriend got Lyme and get parents gave her half doses of antibiotics because she is very petite. Many years later, she is suffering badly and tested positive for Lyme on one of the two unreliable tests that currently exist. Lyme is very misunderstood and this post isn't helping; your comment provided a

Huh?? Lyme disease, if untreated in a timely manner, becomes a chronic illness that can no longer be cured by antibiotics. I know because my long term girlfriend has it.

Yeah I think you put your finger on it. Sadly the same reasoning applies to why domestic violence is handled so poorly by law enforcement; when the rate of domestic violence is 2 to 4 times higher in law enforcement families, it’s easier for law enforcement personnel to see domestic violence as just an internal family

I don’t think it’s about being equipped; it’s about political will. There is political will to imprison vast swaths of black people in urban areas but not to take on rural white separatists.

It was pretty stupid to sexually harass victims in writing. He was competent in terms of obtaining convictions but not in terms of acting ethically, both inside the Avery and Dassey cases and out.

It is more legitimate to discriminate based on choices than on innate characteristics, that’s why. People who want to discriminate against gays want homosexuality to be a choice so that it will not receive the protection afforded to immutable characteristics like race and age.

I think there was a Wisconsin case in the 1980’s that established that you can point to a 3rd party if you can establish motive, means, and opportunity. The defense here was able to establish the latter but not the former.

I get it too. The prevailing position in this country is that some people warrant zero compassion. When people commit heinous offenses it provokes rage that boxes out other sentiments. My intent is to have a mindset that I view as more expansive, which is that I can hate behavior but maintain compassion for the actor,

I agree that we don’t know for sure what his mental state is. But not knowing a suspect’s mental state means that we should mock them and cannot have compassion for them?

Care to elaborate?

I think Ohglante was criticizing the mocking tone of this blog post, not the act of arresting him.

You can have compassion for him and find the tone of this blog post to be kind of distasteful while also feeling for a woman he harassed. Zero prioritization required.

There’s more than enough compassion to go around. It’s not a zero sum game. More compassion is a good thing!

What does this blog post have to do with stopping the sex crime? The OP was about the Jezebel writer shaming the dude.

Good one.

Nope. Someone can both behave badly and need help. It seems the two go together often.

Agreed. The attitude of this post is fucked up.
