I think it is imperative that movements for justice have concrete objectives and continually push towards them. The most impactful activist I know taught me, during our campaign to close a supermax prison, that acts of protests must be linked to clear ends to be maximally effective. There are certainly measurable

I hear you but wouldn’t keeping such images from the public be worse because people would not have to face the horrific reality? Doesn’t an image like this help lead to change by laying bare the brutalization of black bodies?

Unclear on why you’re worked up over that word - isn’t it like saying we shall overcome?

Well, thanks for acknowledging that “criminal” and “victim” are not mutually exclusive and that the public does not have enough facts to know whether Taylor was a victim in this incident. (in case it's not clear because it's the Internet and all, I'm being sincere).

Do you think it’s possible to be both a criminal and a victim?

According to the police, the shooting was not part of the protest.

Yeah it’s protesters’ fault that young black men are afraid of police. Before protesters started agitating, young black men and police would get ice cream together, skip through fields of wildflowers holding hands, etc. Thanks, protesters and Obama, for causing young black men to fear police now without any valid

Lol you don’t think TWICE the rate is vast? That your chances are DOUBLE if you are black? Also, the same amount of unarmed blank people as white people have been killed by cops this year in America, but blacks make up around 1/7 of the white population.

Haha yeah I’m sure you know better than the PhDs across the country who have obtained consistent results over the past decade. You also didn't address proportionality. Black people get killed by police at vastly disproportionate rates, and unconscious bias clearly has something to do with that.

Except for all the national headlines about it, and the dozens of other posts in this comment section about that incident.

“It’s safe to say Emmett Till’s actions killed him, not a lynch mob. If a negro doesn’t want to die violently, he shouldn't talk to a white woman!” - someone like you 60 years ago

Funny that you think one anecdote means white people are just as likely to be killed by police as black people for the same behavior.

U mad bro?

You have no evidence that he was trying to rob it. If he was just trying to commit a robbery, why would he draw attention to himself by vandalizing cars in the lot? Use your brain a little

For which criminal activities do you support the instant death penalty?

Lol at how sure you are that he “fought the police.”

Ha. Throwing out a couple anecdotes as if they erase the mountain of evidence against your point. You’re either intellectually dishonest or ignorant.

Maybe she was talking about a bigger pattern, like the Miley craze last year
