They can also vote in the town they go to college in, that’s what I did.

Usually Lifehacker does some kind of tips relating to current events, so it’s really odd to see so little acknowledgment of what’s happening on the entire West Coast right now. (Yes I know there was the thing about cloth masks not protecting you from smoke yesterday but like...getting ready for evacuation tips? How to

Uh, I’m sure that some children who by tragic circumstances do not have parents or are frequently discriminated against because of their families will cry about it, so you’ll get your wish. I babysat a kid for a while (starting when she was 3, until she was 7) who very likely would have cried if she was told to get

Yeah, fuck kids without parents, I’m sure they’ve ever experienced any kind of trauma that would make that painful for them.

I inquired about other units in my building when my lease was coming up. Rents are lower now than they were when we moved in so we moved up two floors and now we have a balcony and are paying $90 less a month.

Yup...if I'm outdoors with friends and we're not wearing face coverings (because eating/drinking) how far away do we need to be from each other to get to the green instead of yellow? That's what I want to know...I've definitely been doing more than 6 feet but I wish we had a better understanding of what is safe.

Sounds nice! Wish I lived there. If I did develop symptoms and had to get tested I would likely have to use public transit to get to a testing site which seems pretty unethical. Turns out that my insurance will actually only cover testing if my symptoms are severe or I am high risk. There are free testing sites (for

What is the point of your comment

Where I live (Oregon) you still can’t get a test without symptoms or exposure and it’s pretty normal to not get results for quite a while...I hope we see more and faster testing soon.

They actually both use Skype for work (they are both mental health professionals who work in hospitals but are also continuing their private practices through video) but somehow it’s like pulling teeth to get them to use technology that they are perfectly capable of using when it’s not for work...I guess I should

I am trying to prepare my parents for the fact that it will absolutely not be safe to celebrate Thanksgiving or Christmas together (I have seen them outdoors and distanced twice this summer but that’s not going to be possible in the winter). Maybe I’ll teach them to use Zoom by then...

I find it fascinating how many people talk about how they can’t do meditation but they enjoy activities that get them out of their head or however they want to describe it - exercise, sex, etc. Never found an activity that stops my thoughts from constantly racing, but I guess that’s what it’s like to not have ADHD!

The whole point of meditation is that you’re supposed to be noticing your thoughts, not that you’re telling your head to “shut the hell up.” Telling your head to “shut the hell up” would be judging yourself for having thoughts, which is the exactly what you’re not supposed to be doing.

I have ADHD and a meditation practice. I don’t try to “quiet my mind,” that’s pointless and impossible to me. Just pay attention to my thoughts. I’ve got thoughts running through my head constantly, I can’t go through one breath cycle with a “quiet mind.” But that doesn’t mean I can’t meditate for 45 minutes or so.

Yes, there are people who are irresponsible with money. There are also a whole lot people living paycheck to paycheck. Sometimes these groups overlap. There are also a ton of people who have borrowed $20 to $200 (or a lot more, I know so many people whose parents have helped them with the down payment on a house!) from

If I were Charlize Theron I would also date myself.

We gotta figure out how to pay our players more so we don’t lose them to Europe! I miss you Hayley Raso!

I would assume that the OP would theoretically be helping to pay for the Big City U.

As someone without kids (I always wanted them but am never going to be in a financial situation where I could do it comfortably) I...do not get this at all. I feel bad for people in an impossible situation?

Who is paying those unemployed restaurant workers? Because there are plenty of parents making about the same amount as they would need to pay a nanny.
