Awesome drawings! And thanks for throwing in the Bonestorm box art for username synergy!
That’s cool that you at least engage in local tournaments! Sounds like it can be a fun time, and your first victory is going to be cause for a celebratory meal at your favorite Richmond-area restaurant!
Oh! I also forgot that I’m also playing Dragalia Lost on my phone! Is anyone playing Nintendo’s new Diablo-like RPG? I’m only to Chapter 6, as when I get a chance, I play one story or mission and put it away, but I like the pacing and breezy, faster gameplay of it over, say, Fire Emblem Heroes.
I also have gone a long…
I didn’t get interested in the series until XCX on Wii U, and I’m with Will on the struggles of the original as I got it on 3DS. I also identified with the somewhat restrained science-fiction slant of XCX over the more science-fantasy vibe I get from Chronicles.
I actually say congratulations, Will, on getting into VR. Until I finally buy into a system, I can live vicariously through you! I demo’ed an HTC Vive one day a year or so back, and fell in love with the concept, but can’t afford a complete rig. I think PSVR, for the costs, would be a great first step into it, as…
It’s one of those standalone units, like those Pac Man Joystick machines, except this one doesn’t have composite out and generates the sound without magnetic speaker drivers. There’s tons of DLC available for it (some of the rares are SUPER expensive), seems to be popular with kids and adults (most adults just want to…
ADDENDUM: Just realized “aquarium” meant “zoo for fish” and not “screen as fish tank”. Nevermind...now THAT’s a subgenre that’s criminally underserved!
Gosh, those early ‘90's aquarium sims/screen savers were really cool! Those were the days when concepts of Artificial Intelligence and Artificial Life (learning AI) were so novel and fresh. The idea that the fish would react to the virtual tank’s environment in a realistic fashion felt like living in the future. I…
The only “Party” game I’ve ever played was Wii Party, and I feel like my family and friends are better off with more cerebral games like the You Don’t Know Jack series. We’re more “trivia/sitting around” people than “dice rolling/paddling a whitewater raft” people...we are Midwesterners after all...
I have looked into LA Noire for Switch, but haven’t followed through to buy it yet; look forward to hearing thoughts as you get deeper. As for driving following rules, it would be fun if you could pull out a Labo Steering Wheel for the driving segments!
I just bought Rogue Leader last year and started playing it for the first time, too! The presentation is utterly brilliant, and the technology in the game is quite impressive, including cockpit self-shadowing and the heat blur on the horizon of Tattooine.
I’m not finished with HR (The Director’s Cut on Wii U is brilliant - the second screen gives the impression of a true augmentation rather than a mode), and at this point I probably need to start over (or watch a Long Play to the point I stopped) as I’m so lost in the plot, but there are a couple of weird things like…
Right now, I’m kinda self learning with the first book of the Suzuki Method. I figure it is designed for children before they even learn to read music (or even letters), so it’s not only a natural learning style, but also a standardized one so I can pick up a teacher that is familiar and can speak the same language.
Thanks! I’m starting by structuring my learning with small goals, and I’m doing the Suzuki course, which is “standard” enough that once I find a teacher it will be easy for them to know what I’ve learned and how I learned it.
Thanks for reminding me! I need to find a spooky game for this Halloween! I think the Vanishing of Ethan Carter will be on the docket...something my wife and I can sit on the couch together and discuss.
The best co-op experiences are ones where there are specific tasks, specific paths, and specific actions, so the only argument is about division of labor. Breath of the Wild would frankly be the worst co-op game ever, unless one person is fully subservient, at which point it’s not fully co-op.
I think 90% of my time with Switch in handheld mode will be pretty much what I’ve been using my 3DS for, but I agree that on occasion, having that “full console experience” is a worthwhile feature when the time and environment is right. If I had more free time when I traveled...
Congratulations! Those little units are fantastic, aren’t they? I haven’t spent enough time to beat anything, but I did finally get the NES one over the Summer to go along with the Super NES. I’ll need to press on at some point despite my advancing age, so I appreciate the motivation...I’m sure I can do it!
