Rock on building your Kinja blog, Derrick! It looks fantastic, and revisiting a beloved theme is all the better to make me feel less frustrated by “the system”.

The way “games.avclub.com” is a glorified news aggregator rather than an actual website of content is disheartening to me. I want Gameological content to originate here and then be shared outward as desired. Matt works for AV Club, but his Gameological Editor status deserves more than this.

At the top of your text window (at least on PC), there is an “Aa”. Click on that, and it will drop down controls and text styles.

If you want to do spoilers (and not use ROT13), you could try using “code” and “strikethrough” on your text controls:

I read that interview this week - good on you for posting the link!

Sorry you can’t make it! We’ll be thinking of you as we explode.

Wonderful conversation - I was kinda out of the videogame loop until about 2013 when I found you guys, so my memories of 2012 are fuzzy at best. It was only 3DS for me then, and the promise of Kickstarter (which I think fundamentally transformed and rejuvinated the entire industry) hadn’t been realized completely.

Whoa, wait, what?! This has been up on “AV Club” the whole time it was supposed to be up, and it got to Gameological 8 hours later? [gestures of exasperation]

Well said - bad design ruined it for everyone else. We talked a good deal about “failing forward” earlier this year, and it’s very much in the same category - if players knew they could fail and continue, maybe they’d approach those “unwinnables” differently - going in giving it their best, but not restarting before

TONIGHT is Mario Kart 8 on the 8th, and IT’S THE END OF THE MIIVERSE AS WE KNOW IT!
By the time we have another MK8onthe8th, Miiverse will be officially shuttered, so this is our chance to leave comments to each other and post races to YouTube! In honor of that “Last Blast” we’re sending it off with a bang as we race B

I appreciate your point philosophically, but practically, at least for me, I don’t see it. I look at tier lists for Smash, I’ll watch tournaments, and race MK8 every month (TONIGHT! YOU’RE INVITED!) and simply never feel his presence.

Ah. thanks, and you tipped one point that I see as an issue - carrying over damage from battles throughout a level. I can see scraping by the third one, hoping you can survive the fourth, or playing the third over and over until you get it “right”.

I no longer feel a connection with Mario as a character like I did 20 years ago, and I don’t think it’s because of my age. Mario’s character has diluted by so many genres and into so many different games that I think it has actually affected my view of him in mainline games. One of the biggest factors is the sheer

There was already and “opera-themed” preview trailer, so I wouldn’t worry too much about it being a spoiler...it was actually a selling point for me!

My only concern regarding difficulty is in your words “took me a few tries” - as someone who is a somewhat tedious tactician (my mistakes take forever to make), redoing a level, especially after an hour or two of planning and management, is a tough pill to swallow. These are the types of games that allow you to paint

My wife loved the reading I gave her of our conversation yesterday! She’s very sentimental *cries at dog food commercials*, so it was natural her eyes welled with tears at our discussion and your kind, sincere words of encouragement.

/salute Thank you for considering, and your humility and candor with it. Being an amateur historian and being an amateur historical writer are two different things, so while I’ll do my best to make the material understandable for the reader, your resources and resourcefulness may be important to my success-even if it

Oh! I forgot to mention code wheels! Those had artwork and themes that matched the games...heck, Indianapolis 5oo - The Simulation only needed an Official Program for the Race itself, because the copy protection asked for historical data that was listed every year!

Wow. You have so fully nailed my thesis that I can’t help but think you’re more qualified to write this!

Don’t forget that any random thoughts you have, not related to an article, can be composed into a “Post” on your personal Kinja homepage at: shinigamiapplemerch.kinja.com !
