Oh do share. Please go into a meaningful description of ballistics to defend the claim that a .223 round out of a AR-15 can is fatal in a meaningful way out to 4 miles. Please.
What a bunch of intellectual dishonesty and cowardice. If you can’t read a thread in full sequence and context that’s on you. And the comment you quoted above is in relation to the content of the article. You aren’t going to fool anyone but yourself with such cherry-picking.
Take the time to read the entire thread, including the greys, and you’ll see just how wrong you are. You are supposed to have the ability to do so before jumping into a day long internet conversation, it’s a basic form of media literacy.
Actually an AR-15 has an extremely short barrel length compared to most rifles which is why many people consider it an ideal home defense weapon. Its on average 16 inches, while my 12 gauge hunting shotgun is 28 inches. 16" is easy to maneuver.
The actual, literal definition of “tone policing” is to deploy ad hominem attacks or criticisms of tone to detract from the content of the argument. I’ve engaged the argument and the content of the criticisms. Using tone as a part of a means to analyze the content isn’t “tone policing” by it’s literal definition.
I definitely have perspective and have stated the scale of the tweet in comparison to other behavior. But perspective requires we use some level of comparison. No one here is comparing it to Trump's blatant white supremacist language. Perspective actually challenges us to avoid the whataboutism you just employed.
Not policing, just pointing out what it reveals. You seem as incapable of introspection as BigHurt.
She’s displaying profound courage in a moment of national reckoning. I can’t imagine going public given our nation’s record of treating survivors so horrendously. I hope we are able to provide her some justice outside the court.
The tone of the responses to the simple claim that Karpf should know better is pretty revealing.
You do realize I’m considered “the left” by just about every metric, correct? And I’m using the logic of left cultural criticism to highlight the hypocrisy of this entire episode. And yes, both sides hypocritically engage in the use of such standards when it suits them or provides catharsis. (Not looking for some…
So Twitter “jokes” aren’t to be criticized for such use of language? And the mosquito joke wasn’t in the NYTimes either.
If it’s so facile please take the limited time that is required to counter my points. It should be so simple. But as it stands now the only thing facile, ie “ignoring the true complexities of an issue”, is the claim it’s simple “libertarian logic”. (See your other response)
I assume you are being dense and ignoring judicial review. We have a constititionally protected, individual right to bear arms in the same way we have a right to privacy and individuals have access to same sex marriage.
I despise pumpkin spice but we may be in the golden age of donuts. I am converted by ice cream stuffed donuts myself. I will preach that gospel to anyone.
Sorry you don’t get to move the goalpost so blatantly. Your comment was “she’s absoultely unable to parse the fact that Cheddar Ceausescu has put her dad under the bus on numerous occasions and continues to support him.” That’s patently false. She constantly called him out and aggressively denigrated him, specifically…
Life is much simpler when people admit they are unwilling to engage ideas. Thank you for being honest about your lack of interest in actual dialougue.
Actually, the handgun claim is data and statistics from actual “mass shootings” not just shootings in cities. The data bears out that “mass shooters” use handguns almost 2(almost 3) to 1 compared to all “rifles”, which includes ARs. It’s also true that many of the infamous mass shootings we hear about use assault…
PS.. I've appreciated the interaction and the way you challenged my errors
