Boeing chose to go with small and heavy use of composites. Airbus chose to go large. Boeing won this round.

HAT TIPPED, GOOD SIR.
Was deployed to a server farm. It was mostly NAS, no real action. We all talked big, but when the shit went down... We weren’t ready for it. But then again who ever is?
We had them on the ropes...and then the FURRIES showed up, riding on a wave of 4CHANNERS. We knew there was no way our memes AND CAD VIDEOS were up to battling a seasoned army of trolls.
We quickly discovered that when dealing with Russian, Porn tentacles YOU!
Not really sure what the complaint is here. Given that there is not (yet) a doctrinally-approved solution to dealing with these kinds of threats, would you prefer that the Army simply ignored them until they figure it out? JRTC and other training centers are, in part, labs for working out these kinds of problems…
Blended body has plenty of shortfalls to work through first. In grad school we were sponsored by Boeing to build a blended body UAV, when you try to scale the complexities we had to mitigate to a full size people carrier the more obvious it became we’re not quite ready for it.
“I love the smell of a hard disk spinning up in the morning”
Census Liver fried with onions and fava beans. And a nice chianti.
I think there are some very good reasons you don’t see many sea planes.
When the lights went out, we cried.
Why is it so funny? I wouldn’t expect a 15 passenger Transit to beat a Focus for fuel economy. But the Transit gets 16mpg to 34 for the Focus. Yet it is carrying almost 4 times the number of passengers - so in terms of fuel efficiency, a fully loaded Transit blows away a fully loaded Focus - you’d need 15 Focuses at…
and it’s a solution that would have worked for Airbus on the A 380 - I’ve got to assume it was discussed during design at some point. As it is, when you look at the 380, you know there’s something off about it, then you realize the wings are too short...
Which is why the new 777-X model is being designed with folding wing tips on a 236' wingspan- they’re keeping that needed extra length AND still fitting in the existing gates.
Seeing as my commerative Lightning II First Flight cup is sitting on my desk right now holding a bunch of pens - no comment.
We used $ per seat-mile in school for commercial aircraft analysis. Because the quantity of passengers can vary so widely, unlike cars. I guess MPG/seat at least removes oil price fluctuations from $/seat-mile...
I’m a dem and I support Obama, but it’s simply a fact that his administration has not been a strong advocate for increasing NASA’s budget.
The budget first gets requested by the white house and then gets appropriated by congress. The administration requested less for NASA than they did last year. That’s a fact regardless of the amount that congress will sign off on.
To be fair, there is a line in the last season of Rebels where Ahsoka specifically says, “I’m no Jedi” so in a technical sense, she could show up and the promise of “no Jedi” is true. However, you point out they said “no Force users other than Vader” so yeah, for Ahsoka to show up, they’d have to be lying. And movie…
