Serious question: how do you manage to get your dog enough exercise if you can't let him off leash?

I could not be more in agreement with you on this. I was browsing a 'young adult' section recently and saw that the Bronte sisters had all gotten "Twilight" makeovers. The fronts all had almost identical art to the Twilight series, and the back copy was all "OMG you will totally impress your teachers and your friends…
As someone who lives way far away from everyone (remote Canada), I almost prefer destination weddings. At least then I'm paying for a flight to somewhere nice, instead of paying the same amount to get to some other unexciting Canadian small town.
Good point about the difference between cosmetically nice teeth, and actually structurally sound/healthy teeth! I was lucky enough to be born with very straight, white, nicely shaped teeth... but turns out something about the bacteria in my mouth makes me uber prone to cavities. I get lots of comments about my…
Oh goodness, that's truly devastating. I'm so, so sorry to hear that you're going through that right now. Do you have any supports in your life that can be around to talk to/support you/whatever you need to do to be as healthy as possible right now? Friends, family...? Either way, the Jezzies are all here... Let me…
Hope these talks go ok for you. It sounds like you're a wonderful, loving, supportive partner. As horrible as it is at first, sometimes even a heartbreaking truth can (eventually) be better than uncertainty and confusion. Either way, we're rooting for you.
Wow that website is actually really clear and really awesome. Sometimes I wish the internet was more established when I was a teen...
OH MY LORD REALLY?!?! I need to leave work immediately and watch it a zillion times. Gahhhhh!
Pare does look gorgeous, but GAWD I hate those heels.
I really like this response/thought process. I think my initial discomfort came because I first started hearing people use "spirit animal" like this: "Oh man, I took this Indian Wisdom test on the internet and I found out that my spirit animal is a fox!! Plus check out my cool new moccasins (just ignore the made in…
I don't think something needs to belong to just one group in order to be appropriated— in fact, that might even contribute to my concern. For example, head-dresses are something that are used in several distinct Aboriginal cultures, and have unique meanings and purposes for each. When white people wear them, they're…
Yeah, I think that "inspiration" is the reason it's made me uneasy— if there was a ven diagram of "white people who talk un-ironically about their spirit animal" and "white people who wear headdresses as a fashion statement", I bet there'd be a loooot of overlap. But I hadn't even considered the influence of European…
Hah! The spirit guide of my dreams would probably be Jean-Ralphio (Parks & Rec). If only I had such swagger...
Sadly, it's rarely a stretch to find racism and cultural appropriation in the world, but maybe I was wrong to see it here! As I mentioned in my reply to Dr.Chalkwithering, I've been trying to "decolonize" my actions and language, but definitely don't get it right all the time.
Good question! I'm definitely not certain about it, which is part of why I put it out there. I guess my concern comes from the fact that there are still a lot of vibrant, distinct Indigenous cultures alive in the world, some of which subscribe to variations on the belief in animism/'spirit animals', etc. When I hear…
Let go of the confusion and embrace the fact that every kind of milky goodness is equally delicious to you. Mmmmm.
Am I the only one uncomfortable with this "spirit animal" meme, or whatever it is? It just seems to smack of cultural appropriation to me. Anyone?
Maybe you can drink all three kinds because your 'default' is in the middle... so neither 2% nor skim is *that* different from what you normally drink. I almost always buy skim, and while I can easily handle 1%, 2% just tastes grossly thick and rich to me.
I love you, despite how inappropriately timed my laughter was...
