Yeah, agreed. The demo was hugely infuriating, and all these good reviews is making me actually excited for an FF game again (though XII is an underappreciated masterpiece). I don’t know how to feel.

You’ll be fine with your current character. Gear score doesn’t kick in until you reach the end game anyway, and whether you make a new character or not, it sounds like you’ll still be starting in the lowest world tier with about the same set-up. Also, 1.4 has basically zero affect on 1-30. 

I wouldn’t hold your breath on it playing 3ds games.

I completely skipped the WiiU. It would be extremely enticing if I could insert WiiU discs into that base station and play 3DS games on it too.

My guess is that backwards compatibility led to too many secondhand sales of their consoles. Anything that makes someone keep their Wii / Wii U / 3DS is probably going to get them more sales in the end.

Well The Wii U IS a weaker console in terms of Hardware, that's pretty much common knowledge at this point... But the most powerful console has NEVER won in its respective generation. Rather than argue that Nintendo's console is an inferior machine why not instead argue why the other two consoles are better?
