There are so many options that are “not owning a car” that it’s kind of mind boggling. If you don’t have kids and live in a medium sized city, there’s no reason to own a car these days. With bike sharing, grocery delivery, car sharing, Uber/Lyft......why would you want the hassle of a car?

I feel like the car sharing services make the most sense in a “big” city MF scenario....especially with younger drivers. If I was 22 now, I would not own a car at all. Just use one of the car share services.

No need to build a bunker, just make sure you have an efficient car that will last you 5-10 years and is preferably paid off. I have mine! That said, some of the best deals can be had during a recession....provided you have a job.

The recession is coming... while OEMs have been killing off small, efficient cars and introducing $45-60K small trucks.

This is a genius observation.

That’s funny. Trump’s design looks suspiciously like the one Kennedy specifically rejected because he thought it looked too much like something a monarch would demand. He wanted something more tasteful and diplomatic. (The type was chosen to resemble the lettering used for the Declaration of Independence.)

I definitely prefer the current VC-25 livery:

On one hand it’s pretty conservative and not the gaudy abominations we’re used to seeing from Trump’s artistic side.

What a strange person he is. Everybody knows he’s dumb, but his weirdness is severely underrated.

I was going to complain about how wildly unimportant this is, and how there are just so many things a President should be focusing on instead of airplane color schemes.

Good GOD, he’s stupid. This looks more like what USPS should be using. I prefer the current plane’s color combo.

I don't think we should be fixing a "flaw" that would allow the courts to charge and convict you with a crime they can't prove.

The difference between felony and misdemeanor Hit and Run is whether there was a person in the other vehicle who was injured; I Hit and Run a Landcruiser once...luckily, nobody was in the vehicle, so I got a misdemeanor.

AFAIK a hit and run counts as a misdemeanor so long as no one is injured or killed. The moment you run from an accident where there is a casualty the hit and run becomes a felony. (at least in California)

I worked as a pharmacy tech long ago and we had a guy that handed us a blatantly forged and photocopied narcotic prescription. The pharmacist asked for their license to “get info for the system”, he handed it right over, we looked at it and it was them, and he said be back in 10. So we call police, they send an officer

Fleeing the scene carries some pretty stiff penalties, but they are less than a DUI. They can’t prove you were drunk at the time, so they can’t get you with the DUI.

Do you honestly think that was his implication?

How do you feel about the commerce content that’s found on this site? While it is of course different in many ways from true Deadspin posts, it does seem to try to fit in with the rest of the site; it definitely doesn’t feel slapped on.

If you didn’t pretend to be running alongside his car, out of breath, and asking him to pull over.... I’m disappointed.

And no important vehicles were damaged this day.
