Gosh you’d think the actual automotive journalists could have reasoned that one out. But no! EVs are bad now, for some reason!

Realistically the idea is to make living there so intolerable they just leave and disburse elsewhere. Then they’re easier to deal with when they aren’t in huge encampments.

The most egregious design flaw is the use of gas and diesel burning engines in private means of transportation, even after people knew for DECADES that burning fossil fuels would cause catastrophic global climate change.

Toyota will pay as little as possible for labor, just like any other input into their business. Toyota workers aren’t unionized.

What do the cars being electric have to do with poor emissions management at the paint shop?!? Jesus you people have a one-track mind.

“I have no idea how statistics work: do you?”

It’s private property and private parking, they can charge you however much they want, using whatever method they want. Don’t like it? Take the bus or a bicycle.

Are you so sure that ticketing people for not stopping at stop signs in public parks isn’t, uhh, a public safety issue?!?

China doesn’t steal EV IP. They are, in many ways, ahead of the US organically on that technological front. They aren’t exactly rifling through GM’s computer systems for the technical specs of a 2004 Chevy Malibu.

I mean, it obviously has crumple zones, let’s not be intentionally stupid here.

These things should not be for sale because people are dumb, but they wouldn’t be less safe than having your kids sit in the trunk for a short drive to, say, the beach and back at like 15 mph. People do stuff like that in pickup trucks all the time.

What if the alternative was slow down and stop?

Of course they KNOW they aren’t supposed to do it. They do it because there is no penalty for doing so. The automatic license-plate readers issuing tickets changes that.

Not having to jump through an extra City hoop is just a business decision. It doesn’t necessarily means they’re going to be pour glowing green goop into a river like some 1990s kids cartoon villain.

Hybrids are “good,” but they certainly aren’t the long-term future of cars! The long term future of cars are not powered by fossil fuels, period.

I like them. It’s new. Not everything has to be old or vintage or a throw-back. What a boring, stodgy world that would be!

Fossil fuel powered cars are NOT cheaper. That is a false economy. The cost to the average consumer from unabated climate change is non-incalculable, and it greatly exceeds the price difference of a few thousand dollars at a dealership between comparable ICE and EV cars.

Would you say the acceleration was ... unintended?

There is a possible argument that the type of employees a start-up like Tesla has aren’t the right people to then shepherd the company into maturity. That is, the skill-set of the “go fast, break things” crowd is great for building a company from scrach up to what Tesla is today, but their skills aren’t in such demand

Damn. I’m sure you’ll land on your feet though. And maybe you’ll have a more stable boss! CA or TX or NV?
