That was deeply lame status quo resetting. Who gives a fuck about Deep at this point? Why is he here? Big shit is happening and the prospective VP assassination was stupid as well.

I hope it is just because people are more invested in Steve than Sam; given Steve had a lot more screen time and character development in the movies while The Falcon and Winter Soldier didn’t exactly excite everyone for more Sam Wilson.
I wonder if Cap 4 will strive to look like this Cap is actually just human in abilities, or kind of violate physics for the sake of cinema.
In interviews for the series, they said they would iterate on the suit for next time, because that cowl, while comic accurate, was physically impossible. They had to CGI it on because they couldn’t find a solution to make it work in time.
And as Evans notes himself, you couldn't have a better send-off for Steve than Endgame (heck, the final shot of that movie megaton bomb [in a good way] was on Cap's happy ending), so why mess with the memories?
I think you put him against the serpant society and treat it like they’re neo-nazis. just have him beat the crap out of them for 2 hours straight.
I really hope they redesign Sam Wilson’s Cap suit because this one looks like absolute dogshit.
Hemmer is gone, but the actor is coming back to play some other role. In an interview on 7th Rule podcast, Strange New Worlds writer and co-executive producer Davy Perez said Bruce Horak will return to the show.
With that last scene between Pike and Spock, I couldn’t help feeling that was part of the driving force behind The Menagerie. Spock knows that one of the reasons that Pike has accepted his fate and the fate of the cadets who die, is to protect him.
W got to see her when she wasn’t being a Starfleet officer, which didn’t happen in Discovery at any extent until Season 4. So, a lesson learned....
Yeah, it seems like she’s the only one who really didn’t get any character focus this season; I know her as someone who quips on the bridge and that’s about it. But you know what? I still know her name, and the names of everyone else on the show, unlike the crew members of Discovery. So I’m content to wait to see how…
The “very Asian looking female” is Mitchell, and she’s been next to Ortegas the whole season. Their stations are flipped.
Based on her rank insignia, she’s actually been promoted to light commander, so it’s not a demotion. What she’s doing in that seat, though, is a good question; I have a suspicion we’ll find out eventually if the series runs long enough.

Pike’s mistake was that by writing to those cadets no one, including him, was in that engine room when the radiation leak happened, but it’s not Maat’s death or survival that shapes the future. It’s Pike’s. Perhaps we’ll see Pike on that final mission, and he does something that saves Maat at the last second, while…
No Trek series since TNG has made this happy, and even TNG needed a season or two to hit its stride. And while I loved DS9 (after they got the Defiant) this just feels more like the TOS Trek of my youth in a way other prequels like Enterprise and Discovery never came close to. Fingers crossed that season 2…
Actually, I appreciated how Ortegas was very much hard line without going over the top like Styles did. Very much in character and plays a role in Pike’s command style.
A damn good episode.
I have never watched a prequel that has managed to make me this invested, and it certainly helps that they have made the “foreknowledge” aspect part of the text.
Some observations..
Over the last few weeks I have seen a lot of people pointing out that Ortegas has been a little two dimensional throughout this season.…
And it is very much in line with what we know of Pike’s character that he would accept his fate because he doesn’t want to risk something worse happening to his friends.
