I get Frank’s point regarding the nuclear annihilation threat fizzling out. I’m just not sure you should construct a dramatic series that way. Being intentionally meandering and anticlimactic just...doesn’t do it for me, really, no matter how strong the performances and dialogue really are.

The Shield is a much better, much tighter drama than The Americans, and it’s not even close.

That, or a much tighter story that actually goes places. Either or, really.

It went full Lost at the end there, didn’t it?

Sons of Anarchy takes The Shield’s instincts and uses them in all the wrong ways. It basically just tries to top itself with more and more shocking events without ever actually telling a story with them. So frustrating.

Wow. Completely agree with everything you just said. Battlestar had such a promising start and fell apart so rapidly after Resurrection Ship.

TLOK had more interesting ideas and better animation (basically, the potential to be a much better show), but as it stands, the original has to take it easily.

Gotta disagree with you there. There’s a bit of a quantum leap in quality between Seasons 1 and 2, and the final two seasons are up there with the best prestige seasons for me.

The show should be a lot higher than 50, to be honest. The last three seasons are just brilliant.

Adventure Time is much more imaginative and creative. It’s easily the better show to me.

Britons generally don’t like it, it’s true. In my experience at least.

I also found the ending to be extremely flat, personally.

I once read that The Americans writers went down all the avenues they thought were interesting instead of focusing and taking the story where it needed to go. That’s what held it back from greatness for me.

Both good!

Yeah, seriously, what is with the engineering/sculpting nonsense? Can they really not think of any other way to push baking skills to the limits?

Fruit’s good. Meringue’s good. What’s not to like?

Emerson is a large reason of why that show was so great. I can’t think of any actors who had the same range and gravitas, and could make conversations with a computer so compelling.

The Janeway hologram will have three different personalities, just like the real Janeway.

Usually towards the end of the season they deliver some good ones.

Truly the best of us.
