Well that’s the point. They have nothing else.

It’s the type of comment we used to see a lot more of on the AV Club.

Anime live action adaptations are usually just straight dogshit.

I’ve never seen Bebop negatively compared to Dark Matter before. I get preferring live action stuff, but even so.

Cowboy Bebop is mostly known as ‘the anime that even anime-haters enjoy’. You should check it out.

Pretty much nobody. It’s a ridiculous thing to be mad about.

I think it’s better than all three of those. And Legend of the Galactic Heroes blows American space operas out of the water.

No. Some things from childhood pass and never return.

Yeah, I think it’s one of the best kids shows ever made.

You should also check out Whisper of the Heart, Only Yesterday, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, The Wind Rises, and The Tale of the Princess Kaguya.

Yeah, I have to say from a writing perspective this was probably the best 1st season of any Arrowverse show. It seems like the show has a strong grasp of the fundamentals, not just endless plot twists like Arrow or one compelling villain like The Flash.

It’s not perfect, some of the third act is a bit messy, but I love how it’s just this weird psychosexual drama that happens to star Batman. So much more interesting than most superhero media.

I don’t much care for the navel-gazing of the Nolan films. Batman Begins makes a bunch of really strong arguments for why Bruce shouldn’t become Batman, and then he does it anyway. Just not a concept that stands up to logical scrutiny. It’s a bit of a square peg in a round hole. I see what Nolan was trying to do, but

I don’t like the Nolan films much at all. Easy for me. Mask of the Phantasm is very good, so that is a much trickier choice.

I like the fact that it goes full Burton. It distinguishes it from other films.

Hot take: Batman Returns is a masterpiece.

At least Into Darkness, dire as it is, has Benedict Cumberbatch.

To be fair, that started under Pen War (I Remember You). I agree that when he tried to replicate the style of earlier seasons it didn’t quite work, but there are plenty of adventurous episodes under Muto (Crossover, You Forgot Your Floaties, The Hall of Egress, Islands, etc)

It’s neat that Muto’s back. I prefer his half of the show overall to Pen Ward’s, hot take that may be. It’s perhaps a bit more inconsistent, but more ambitious.

I try to forget about that. Only the first two Fionna and Cake episodes are really any good, to be honest.
