Solid episode-probably my favorite of the season so far. It’s interesting seeing Season 1 play out again from a different angle. I was expecting Season 2 to go that route-obviously they didn’t. Also, Kant references.

I never claimed those shows didn’t have their problems (Don’t get me started on Angel Season 4!). I just feel that Supernatural’s were bigger and held it back more. And I don’t think it weathered all of them either. It did rebound hard in Season 11, but man, some of those middle seasons were *bad*. Season 10 was X-File

I’m not sure either. I’m not really sure how they’re going to handle anything. I like the uncertainty for a change.

Yup. She’s one of those writers whose name gets me excited to see the episode. She’s like the Darin Morgan of It’s Always Sunny (any other examples of standout writers? I’m drawing a blank here). It’s a collaborative process, of course,-I’ve read tv writers who claim that the name on the script is sometimes

I hold Season 4 in a little higher regard than some people for that reason. I can appreciate if a season can at least hit some high points. Season 2 had the most post-Season 1, and Season 4 has “Enter Flashtime”, which is better than any episode from Seasons 3 or 5. “Duet” is charming.

It also feels like they’ve lost sight of the characters. They have been having the same petty arguments for years now. Will they ever learn? Will they ever change in meaningful ways? I don’t have much hope.

I personally didn’t pick up on them, and I stand by that. That being said, ‘Depth’ is a fickle thing-it’s very easy to claim there is none. I’ve personally been annoyed by reviewers doing that. So I can see how I could be wrong.

Also, Barry’s mature decision was completely and utterly undone at the end of Season 2. So he just regressed and hasn’t really recovered since.

I’d say 2. It was still somewhat riding the high of Season 1.

I thought you were unnecessarily aggressive. I couldn’t care less what your opinion of Buffy the Vampire Slayer is. Your first reply to me was calling into question whether I had watched the show. So, yeah, I thought you were a little rude initially.

Have we discussed anything on here before?

Untrue. Someone asked if they should watch the show if they’re a fan of shows with similar genres. I gave my honest opinion (I also say elsewhere how I very much liked Seasons 2-5 and 11-14). One commenter respectfully disagreed. The other......

“Based on your description of Dean, I can’t believe that you actually watched the show. They consistently refer to his PTSD, the angels had him torture Alistair because Dean trained under Alistair (after agreeing to ‘get off the rack and start putting other people on it’).”

First three episodes air December 8-10. Then we wait until January 14th to finish with the final two parts.

I don’t know. I remember the promos for the first episode.

The villains all have similar motivations as well (Even Michael Emerson couldn’t save his villain in Arrow Season 6). And are sometimes played by actors/actresses who love to ham it up.

CBS shows aren’t all bad!

There’s a new show-runner, which is promising, and Crisis on Infinite Earths has the potential to give The Flash the focus it’s been missing for years now. That being said....I feel like a Simpsons fan at this point. We’ve been burned a few too many times. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

“There is far more depth in Supernatural than in Buffy or Angel.”

No, I’m interested in lasting character development, an interesting, likable supporting cast, meaningful themes, and some actual depth. When Bobby and Castiel die in “Swan Song”, they just come right back-no questions asked. When Buffy dies and is resurrected, the show spends an entire season putting her through the
