You’ll get through it. The third season is worth it.

No one kept secrets from each other. No annoying pep talks. That’s enough for me to call an episode of The Flash lighthearted these days.

Actually, even The Wire suffered from that approach in places. Remember Season 2? Zzzzzzzzz.......

Pardon me sir, parts of Justified?

Never seen this show before, but hello, fellow POI fan! You have good taste!

Only way they could top him would be to bring on Mads Mikkelsen.

Also, the attempts at drama were EARNED, and not forced and irritating.

I agree. I loved it. It was a dramatic episode with stakes, but also lighthearted fun. Just like Season 1. Too bad Season 4 is about to get awful again with the Devoe storyline............

Agree with you on everything above, except for me, Return of the King is the best LOTR film if you watch the extended editions (though all of them are masterpieces in my book, so I may not be a reliable source). I actually liked The Shape of Water, but there were many better films this year. Still, hard to begrudge

Do you know if he’s going to do another show set in the SW universe? I think he mentioned something last year, but I don’t know if it’s confirmed.

It’s a good kids show in Seasons 1 and 2, then becomes a good show in Season 3.

But I feel Return of the King deserved it. I liked it more than Lost in Translation. The Shape of Water was probably the 5th or 6th best film out of 9.

But he doesn’t really battle mental illness-the illness is caused by the parasite inside his mind. And yeah, Aubrey Plaza is always great.

I personally don’t get the hype for Lady Bird. For me, Dunkirk, Phantom Thread, and Get Out are the best of the best picture nominees. Blade Runner 2049 would win if it were up to me.

Pan’s Labyrinth barely got recognized....but of course The Shape of Water gets him tons of recognition....

I don’t know if you’ll read this (cause kinja), but I have to sincerely thank you for writing such insightful, brilliant reviews of such a riveting, brilliant show. I expressed misgivings about it early on, but it quickly fixed its flaws. You’ve done a fabulous job of deconstructing exactly what made this show so

See, I don’t think that’s the problem. A dark season of The Flash would be pretty dang interesting. The problem is The Flash confuses darkness with ‘mopiness’ (not a word but it is now) and ‘joylessness’. Very dark shows like The Shield, Breaking Bad, and The Sopranos could be quite funny at times.

It’s not that complicated. Fun, (but not Legends of Tomorrow humor, which only works for that show), sharply written episodes that are heavy on action and solid character beats. SO, basically Legends of Tomorrow with a different tone. The plots don’t even have to be that great. They just have to be fun! There’s

Why can’t we have a season where the Rogues are the main villains? :(

I don’t think Legion is that great. I think Aubrey Plaza and the special effects team are great. Take those elements out, and it’s completely unremarkable.
