Side of a mountain in Colorado.  I’ve got AWD and the best all-seasons you could buy (at least when I last changed them), and drive carefully when the white doom comes.  But that can be in JUNE.  I’m considering snows, but they’d basically be year-round :(

Long legs; I’m dying by the time that light goes off, so standing helps pop the knees back into place.

You don’t fly that much, do you? I want to get on, tune out the idiots around me, get my book out, and get on with being in my headspace. I don’t want to wait for my bag once we land, I don’t want to wait for them to tag something, I just want to put my headphones in, start my music, and ignore everything.

Fuel economy, power out of a TT6 is similar, and emissions.  Plus the market is generally going that way.  The ZL1 will probably be one of my last V8s - but I also live at altitude, and a N/A V8 is often a boat anchor.

Counterpoint: I’ve got a 450HP TT V8 BMW Sedan, and a ZL1 Camaro. I just bought a 99 Miata that’s way more fun to drive than either of those in some ways.  More power gets silly at some point.

It’s the same as a $18,000 Sonic.  That’s a problem.  It has to be FAR better than that for 60k.

Yep. Why buy something that isn’t that great to be in but is awesome to drive, when you can get something almost as awesome to drive that is great to be in ~too~. I’m not on the track every day, I’m on the highway, or stuck in traffic, or driving around town - that’s where the REST of what they missed comes in to

I’m actually ok with this.  They put AWD in them, with a real engine, which is a big deal - the V-sport and V models before were always RWD only, which is a non-starter for parts of the country (and don’t start with the winter tire stuff - our last significant snow was May 20th, 8" - I’d only get real tires for July

Ex-GTI owner - Because the GTI has moved away from light, tossable fun towards more “well rounded” and premium - to its massive sales success, of course (and if I had to only have one car, it’d be hard not to take the GTI), but that may not be what you’re looking for. Having driven the SI recently (2018 model), it

This is my main complaint as well; This just feels like they had more to help flesh out this final transformation, and just ran out of ~time~ and had to push through too fast.

Pinto.

Cross shopped those too. Wife loved them, trying to remember what it was that I paused on.

Absolutely true.

Data point of 2. I LOVE the interior. Don’t mind the exterior. Like BMW 6es. Don’t mind BMW maintenance.

I could afford it, and was intrigued (yeah, the F&F made me aware of the Mk IV, sue me - I was in college then), and I’d even go gaga over a manual/4cyl version, but I’m not interested in a sports car with an auto, even the excellent ZF8. I’ve got an M550; I know how good that transmission is (and especially in a

Ecoboost mustang,  but your point is otherwise accurate.  And I think those have tipped past the 25k mark a bit.

I don’t know about that - I had no idea how bad mine was getting until my wife pushed me on it; and looking back at pics now, she was totally right.  We guys can be often unaware, which may be why this piece exists (laughing a bit at it since folks made fun of it).  Not saying those folks were right, mind you - but

You’re going to look fine bald. Just shave it.

I 70 for that whole route is 3,4, or 5 lanes.  I76 is 2.  I270 is 2.  This will not work.  I76 cannot be expanded in many areas.  I270 can’t be expanded because of stupid rules.  That’s not a bypass, that’s an hour addition to the drive RIGHT NOW.  Never mind when you dump the 70 traffic on it.  On a similar road (US6

That pic was taken around 2AM.  I270 is normally dead stop (the northwest/southeast branch of the line) from about 7:30 AM until about 9PM.  It is NEVER moving.  It’s also 2 lanes.
