I’m trying to understand how “t-shirt tucker” is an epithet.

I’m not yet at an age where a cruise is my primary choice (well, every 3 years or so about 20 or so friends all go on a cruise together, and that’s a good time fun), but my parents enjoy the relaxation. so it gives the wife and I a chance to still go on vacation with my parents and create some memories.

Oh, hah. No. Plenty of boring people to go around. Plenty of bus tours will exist when this is said and done. Plenty of people will still drive across the middle of the country for actual fun, and not even stop at national parks along the way. There are lots of ways for people to be boring, and lots of boring people

< If they can survive long enough, they will be undoubtedtly end up booked solid with the types of people who wear socks with sandals>

Artificial reefs.

I’ll be honest — I’m totally thinking about taking the round-trip Christmas cruise on the Queen Mary II. I took that ship from England to NYC a few years ago and it was an amazing experience. The XMas cruise is cheap anyway because the north sea is rough at that time of year, but if it can be cheaper still I can spend

You ever traveled to a “third-world shithole?”

You actually only spend the evenings (and maybe 1 or 2 days) on the boat. The rest of the time you’re on land at the ports of call.

and fewer prostitutes

I enjoy how salty everyone here is over cruise lines yet up until this pandemic they were making plenty of money. And I suspect if the world does return to normal they will again. People are short sighted and have shorter memories. Don’t get me wrong, I agree they’re floating monuments of excess and waste but it’s

For less than $30 a meal?

Why would you want essentially the entire supply chain for the world we live in AND factories to go extinct? Did you massively short SPY?

But their stock will pop like some Miami Bass pussy as soon as a vaccine comes out because everyone will be ready for a vacation.  That is why people are willing to invest.  People love cruises.

The credit ratings companies will rate them AAA investment grade, and a bunch of 401ks and municipal bonds will go bust in 20 months, the banks will have sold them off by then to investment firms.

Well, there’s lots of progress being made on hydrogen power for ships. Seems to be far more practical for ships than cars. Could be the game changer needed.

You know that saying about how a boat is a hole in the water that you pour your money into? Now imagine the cost of operating a fleet of these floating hotels. The reason the cruise lines engage in so many shenanigans like registering in tax havens and hiring crews from third-world shit-holes is that the fixed costs

It’s Vegas on the water instead of the middle of the desert

Your sarcasm meter is on the fritz.

Remember seeing a cable news or old school History Channel show about cruise ships.  At something like 110% booking, they just break even on operating costs.  100% booking is 2 people per cabin.  The profit all comes from alcohol sales, the casino, stores, and excursions.

I did a reverse Becky/Karen today! O yes I did!
