The whole thing is worth a watch, whether you’re a theater nerd or a secret theater nerd who knows all the lyrics to Oklahoma but would never sing them in front of you, for your sake (hi!). To be perfectly honest, I’m not even all that familiar with Sondheim, though my favorite episode of Documentary Now is the one

I actually relate to this story the most *because* I’m a woman, and it’s been socially instilled in me to always be polite and never be rude, always be nice and never hurt anyone’s feelings (i.e., if someone’s following you, don’t tell them off because what if they’re actually a really nice guy and you end up hurting

Fun fact: I moved to Chicago last Halloween, and EVERY TIME I was out by the airport/on the outskirts of Chicago, I thought of your story. SO creepy, and I think every single one of your instincts about that guy is right on.

This was great last year and is still great this year. I am very glad you got out safely.

Just like last year this story creeped me the hell out! This is the story I shared with my daughters as a lesson in trust your gut.

This is one of the The first stories I remembered when I saw the Halloween thread. Totally terrifying.

just as creepy the second time around! It’s interesting how much you ignored your instincts here... I think as a women we are trained to be scared of strange men and gtfo if anything is even the tiniest bit off. I wonder if you ignored yours because that sort of thing is hammered into boy’s heads way less?

I remember this. I probably will never forget it. Scariest story ever.

It’s terrible how we let our fear of being rude override our instinct that something is just not right. It’s been a long time since I went somewhere alone with a man when I just *knew* something was not right and am happy to say that I have given zero fucks in potentially hurting someone’s feelings when I did not feel

This story has kept me from meeting people from Grindr. Except those I already have vetted. Just saying that this might be a public service announcement in the form of a scary ass story.

The thing that makes this more scary than last year is that you still haven’t seen his face on the news yet.

I remember your story from last year. If anything, it reminds us to not be too polite when we sense danger! Spooky!!

Around five years ago, I was a TA for an undergraduate literature course that had 300 students; there were two TAs and our job was mostly to do grading (sigh) and hand out exams and set up PowerPoints and stuff of that nature. Basically, assist the professor in all manner of tedium while she lectured. Due to a

I remember this story. CHILLS!

I ALMOST SHIT MYSELF WHEN I READ THIS LAST YEAR. Thanks for posting again. The true-life scary stories are the best, because they’re the worst. I’m so glad you’re OK. You used some great instincts to get yourself to safety.

Your story was by far the creepiest last year (and this year, so far). I’m so glad you got out of there!

Yup I remember this story from last year too

I remember your story from last year, so creepy!

I would too if my picture was on it.

So weird—I heard she’ll be 45 in January.
