Proof that the number of fans an actor has don't translate visibly to box office.

Yeah because actual video footage don't real….

We'll be lucky if there's a planet to leave by 2020.

I still can't decide if this is a good movie, but I do know it was one I enjoyed a lot.

Yeah he is, but at the same time I get that blockbusters are not something that most actors are hugely invested in, especially not ones tied to such a stressful situation as WB/DC .

That's the thing though, isn't it. People aren't really interested in movie stars anymore as far as the big franchise characters they play. It must be pretty frustrating when you're an actor who's slaving away on projects you put a lot of time and emotional energy into. Feel like there's less humour in that than there

I've watched this trailer 3 times and I can't for the life of me decide if it's laughable or genius. It's exactly as bizarrely arty-farty as I had hoped though, and it's full of Cate Blanchett, who honestly does not need a collage of a film to prove how broad her range is, I mean seriously.

Ask Jessica Chastain.

After I watched the behind the scenes on Kubo where they showed how they painstakingly suspended tiny grains of sand in the air on clear wire, moving them millimeters each shot, to create the effect of the Tennyo dragging herself dramatically across the beach to get to her baby, I really couldn't cheer for any other

That was a real snub and a half. Not only to recreate a beloved cast member's likeness in motion with as little uncanny-valley as can be done, but to do it in the middle of such a behemoth of a production in a way that requires a rewrite of the movie on top of everything else. And to work it into the story so well!

If it was a member of the academy who said that I'd bet it was one of the many that don't actually bother watching half the nominated films before voting, let alone movies outside of them.
I'll never stop being dismayed at the dismissive attitudes of people who don't even seem that interested in the medium they're

Mistakes do happen and it's a busy, nerve-wracking event, but two people whose job it is to know about movies made that mistake at the Globes. There's only a handful of nominations in the big categories, how hard is it to remember them, or at least double check with an assistant before interviewing someone.

Donald Trump is a rich white celebrity and, unlike Meryl Streep, he has no political experience.

No I had one of my 5 assistants write it, what do you think?
And please just take your abuse excusing-self back to Breitbart. Those trolls are heinous and so are you. Your lack of basic human empathy is shocking.

Well they're video essays and it is one she's been working up to for ages. Her videos are usually around the 20 min mark, which I always feel is too short by the end because I enjoy them so much.
And I don't think it's really the job of a critic to be constantly acknowledging that film making is hard, we know it's

LOVE Lindsay Ellis' film video essays. Been waiting on this one for a while!

Stars generally do not bring in consistent box office draw anymore. This last few box office weeks should be enough to prove that.
And if we're going by those catagorisations then Will Smith, Johnny Depp, and Michael Fassbender are not movie stars. Michelle Pfeiffer is a recognisable face. She's as regonisable as any

As in if you just straight up replaced Dench with Pfeiffer in that role? Probably not. But it's ridiculous to claim box office = level of 'stardom' for anyone. How long has it been since any actor was a guaranteed box office draw? A great performance with great reviews can get butts in seats, but the time of star

I'm really happy for Kubo and Zootopia, especially Kubo since the movie was considered such a boxoffice disappointment with the studio unable to afford the marketing push to get it noticed. Both incredible animated movies with exceptionally fantastic voice work.

Shit, I thought Sackhoff was going to be the lead in this. Instead it's a random girl she's biologically too young to have realistically birthed, who is apparently her daughter?
Still pretty heartbroken she didn't land the Captain Marvel role. I know it was only a rumour, but still…
