I’m not a vet, so take this with a grain of salt, but are his toenails long? Older dogs, as they run around less (though it sounds like this might not yet be the case with your puppers) won’t wear down their toenails the same way which may lead to them feeling less secure on their feet. Also, if there are any issues…

When I had to have a vaginal ultrasound (for issues unrelated to yours, so sorry I can’t help or commiserate) the tech seemed to be much more concerned for my comfort that I was. Which is good, but can you imagine doing such a thing all day long as your job?
