My daily is a Porsche 987 so I look at everything through the lens of “what’s a practical second car,” and I’d rather have your B9 allroad than any S5 right now. I love the grey flares around the wheel arches, nice contrast to the color too

I didn’t know what that was and I have now spent the last 3 hours reading about crime in Johannesburg, flamethrowers on cars, and etc so... thanks for fueling my need to learn.

Holy hell what a beautiful car

I’ll voice a dissenting opinion on Neutral since most are sharing generally positive experiences.

Agreed. There’s lots of sports car dick-measuring stereotypes and so on... and I get it, I like being able to say what I drive and have it be a topic of conversation rather than a point A-to-B kind of thing.

Great post. I have a 987 cayman, best car I’ve ever owned. I’m super pumped about the C8 and I’m already scheming ways to try to afford one, but that said I don’t think for a second that it will out handle a modern Porsche and I’d consider the two on equal footing really - a few tradeoffs in either direction.

I currently am driving a rental Chevy Equinox and it’s so similar to the Peugeot 3008 I drove in Ireland last September that I don’t expect to see GM letting Peugeot sell what will be a direct competitor to their cars in their own dealerships. FCA makes a lot more sense but the 500X is sort of similar as well, though

These lists are always completely worthless. How can you possibly judge the reliability of cars that just came out?

I got into the Supra for the MK IV in high school, and stayed for the Mk II - once my tastes matured. The II is gorgeous!

I’m really disappointed - like you said, it doesn’t have the brand that Ferrari does and that’s why I like(d) Porsche. It is a fancy car but you could maintain it yourself or take it to your VW/Audi/P indie shop for a reasonable amount. Lots of Porsche enthusiasts share techniques, tricks, and home maintenance tips,

Jesus, 750 for plugs.

Not the most tactful response but I understand where you’re coming from. I’m a moderate - socially liberal, fiscally conservative. Recently, I’ve been voting democrat... the side that is all about giving people a voice. But frequently when these discussions come up, I don’t get to have a voice because I’m a white male

My college roommate’s 850 was the first manual I’d ever driven. I stalled it and I sucked because I had no idea what I was doing. Lots of good memories in that car, from back when I was the age where driving around with windows down regardless of weather was still “cool.” It had a ton of miles on it and was already

These don’t seem like really comparable cars, but nice article regardless. Personally, I’d go miata, but I’m a RWD snob (and I’ve already had multiple FWD hatches and I’m bored of them)

The 987 less practical or the 997 is less practical?

Wow those long-ways slats on the rear engine cover look absolutely hideous!

Take a little off for the bad AC and it’s a nice price and very clean looking otherwise. Just go into this knowing you could’ve bought a $35k car by the time maintenance is factored in over the next two years or so... just part of the Lotus experience, not a dig at this specific car.

Not disputing the reliability since that’s definitely true, but they also sold very few Audi’s in the late 80s after the whole “unintended acceleration” fiasco smeared their new models. Turned out people were just pressing the accelerator instead of the brake pedal by accident, nothing wrong with the car, but too

So, if 66% of truckers are white, then that means 33% +/- are minorities right? That’s pretty good considering that’s reflective of the US demographic as a whole.

I already do something similar to this and would love to throw my hat in the ring, but I just can’t commit to moving to New York at the moment. Any chance I could fly up for shoots and edit from home? I don’t know how your process works - but editing a video takes ~90% longer than shooting it for me.
