Let me spell it out for you: it is insulting and offensive to say, “to be fair,” and then criticise British colonialism and imperialism as though they had something to do with these attacks.

Even before all of this, they were going to have the visit be up in Scotland mostly, to keep him away from the hordes of protesters (not quite sure why, they hate him up there too).
There’s nothing fair about it. Khalid Masood, who did the Westminster Bridge attack, was born in Kent. Salman Abedi, who did the Manchester bombing, was born in Manchester. These latest three will probably be the same. “England” didn’t kill anyone who was “left” in relation to them.
And now Liam’s slagging Noel off on twitter. It’s oddly comforting.
Miley has a phenomenal voice, that’s true. But having listened to it again (I was driving during this part and couldn’t pay too much attention or I would have crashed the car) it’s clear that this duet is much more in Miley’s natural range than Ariana’s. Ariana’s tessitura is at least half an octave above Miley’s.
Yeah, I am sure that she will need some help and therapy. It can’t have been easy for her, and I applaud her for how well she is handling it. It will not have been the same as for EoDM though, as they were on stage themselves when the attack occurred and had to flee. AG was never in personal danger.
She has a lot of fans in the UK now. She’s doing a much better job than the president.
Other highlights for me were Robbie’s Angels, Take That (seeing them at the o2 on Wednesday), Ariana and the children’s choir, Katy Perry’s Roar, Coldplay & Ariana’s Don’t Look Back in Anger cover, and the policeman skipping in a circle with little girls during Bieber (I think).
Liam once called Chris Martin “a geography teacher who makes music for bedwetters.” And he STILL preferred to sing with him rather than Noel.
I’m far too old to have had any opinion of Ariana Grande before this, but she has impressed me enormously. She was poised, emotional, engaged and engaging and she did a fabulous job. What a role model. Really well done. Somewhere Over the Rainbow was outstanding.
Thank you. I couldn’t agree more.
Defeated? Not from where I’m sitting (in a crowded cafe in London, enjoying life). The UK stands for plenty of things, not everything. Mostly tea, and giving two fingers up to people who attack it.
That’s sick (and I don’t mean in your millennial way). I have a lot of Tory friends. They find violence abhorrent. As do all right-thinking people. Keep your conspiracy theories to yourself, and if you want people to vote for Corbyn, make the argument on the issues.
You think you’re afraid, angered and/or disgusted? We live here. And we will continue to love our neighbours. We will continue to open our doors to friends and strangers alike. And we will continue to be the greatest goddamned city in the world.
Well then why on earth are you bothering to comment? They can keep attacking, and we will keep surviving.
London lost 52 people on 7/7. More than that were killed by the IRA. Over 40,000 in the Blitz. It doesn’t matter if the attacks never stop, because London will never surrender. And that’s a promise.
It’s right of centre by global standards, not US ones. They and their 16 paid weeks of parental leave would fit in well in the Democratic Party.
Aren’t we all! NZers seem to have the best relationship with indigenous people of all English-speaking countries, although the bar is certainly not high.
Eh, the Kiwis are all right.
Exactly. Huma reminds me a lot of some of my friends. Beautiful, brainy, accomplished women who stay with guys who do terrible things.
