I saw loads of people doing this at gigs at SXSW. They looked like proper numpties.

I learnt Photoshop in 1994, before it had layers. Rubbish, it was.

A guy I used to flatshare with - a Reuters reporter - asked Bill Gates to his face if he had Asperger's. Interview over.

Or get an iPad 2 and wait for iOS 5 in summer?

You'll be mostly up-to-date for another 18 months, if other iOS devices are any guide. I agree, that's not enough - but can you name any other comparable manufacturer that's supporting its devices for anything like that long?

Better specs in a thinner/lighter/prettier box, for the same price? Where can I buy one?

Nah. You want just a box with chips in, get a Dell.

Except the worst possible place, egonomically, for a trackpad is below the keyboard.

1) Data streaming works worst on the move. I tend to use my iPhone for music most in the car. Fail.

Remind me, how much is a PSP?

Proprietory headphone jacks were annoying five years ago. So long, Veer.

Maybe, with their first or second cameraphone. Then they wonder whether those extra mpix actually got them better pictures. Then they get an iPhone, because they can play Cut The Rope on it.

Yes. Because smartphones *are* the interface. I have to pick up a phone and think 'wow, this beats what I have'. What I have is pretty good, thanks.

No. His point is that the engineers won - Nokia shoved out products that had great specs but shitty software, because somewhere within the corporate structure was an attitude that if the specs were great, the rest didn't matter. What's happening now is a rebalancing - a realisation that an unusable phone is an

It's making a general point about the precedence of engineers in Nokia.

It's not their job to - that's for the designers to worry about. The problem is that Nokia was run by people who didn't listen to the designers. Apple does - which has, I hope we can agree, worked out quite well for them.

Bang on. They've rolled the dice, and good luck to them.

New look: hate. Go back, or I'm gone. I'll get my tech news somewhere I can fucking see it.

@yiff: Yeah, I think I agree with Duncam. A semi-hidden, 'don't use me' port for charging only would be a very Apple way round it.

@yiff: Will it? I've missed this one - got a link?
