Because women began making advances in the workplace when they were able to control their fertility. Along with the patriarchal reactions, there are economic ones. There's an underlying fear of women having economic power behind a lot of the reasoning.

I was just thinking this. I even went back through some old articles that use "basic" and none of them seem to use it correctly.

No one said it is. We're saying that this AUSTRALIAN girl who decided that having an Atlanta accent, while adopting an aesthetic not particular to her Australian farm life, is inauthentic and akin to modern day minstrel. Macklemore may be wack but dude is very much a hipster from Seattle and doesn't act any other way.

The thing I find most grating about Iggy is that she raps in a fake accent. I'm okay with her adopting some aspects of black culture based on her experiences in the US, but there is a difference between being influenced by something and mimicking it, and Azalea's faux-Black rapping is on the wrong side of that line.

I don't see how we disagree here. I didn't say he was an angel or imply that he was innocent. He says he is, and his mom thinks he is, but so do a lot of people who are not innocent.

The absolute best part of all of this is that newscaster reading the Facebook comments. I just about died at "oh GOD yes."

Cue all the model scouts leaving Eastern European middle schools and flocking to courts, prisons and the hood.

Truly. I was like "Yeah, yeah ... oh."

So he was dehydrated with a little altitude sickness thrown in. A saline drip and a chocolate chip cookie would have made him feel pretty good, too.

I don't see get a real "black people" vibe from this, either. I do see a stereotyped, oversexualized version of black women, though. I'm rather surprised that no other commenters seem to be able to see it, but perhaps I have more exposure to stereotypes than you do.

Ah, the classic "You're the real racist!" defense!

Denying that stereotypes exist does not absolve them of their power and influence.

I cannot wait to use "I don't know your life."

My husband does this shit i call the silent burrito. He starts to turn through out the night each turn taking a bit of the blanket away from me. Fuckers all snuggled up and I'm shivering. Motherfuckin silet burrito

The government is wasting too much money on ESL programs and bilingual schools for Dolphins. My grandfather came here with just the hair on his back and he worked his fingers to the boner so that his family could enjoy the fruits.

But why do I have to be confronted with blatant racism in the title of the article? The article does enough to spell out how disgusting and vulgar this woman is and her language usage. Why does it need to be in the title when just yesterday Jezebel censored the homophobic slur in the Jonah Hill article. We all know

As a white person and an ally (not to derail, just to add my agreement), I find it very upsetting seeing such a hateful word spelled out on the front page. If we are going to censor f****t, why is this word different?

Cosigned. Came to the comments to say the same thing.

Hey Mark ... I love you and normally all you do, and I know it's a quote and it's getting clicks, but could you please not have the N word in the title of the post? It's completely unavoidable all over Jezebel, in the sideboard for the related blogs...
