Huh. Well this just keeps getting better and better!

A classmate once describe The Metamorphosis as Ovid's Big Book of Rapes, which still cracks me up.

I once cataloged Selective Service System, a 1970 film by Warren Haack which consists entirely of Haack literally shooting himself in the foot and bleeding until the film ran out (I expect he bled a fair bit after the film ran out as well). That seems like the type of film James Franco would make now, entirely missing

I used to own Blush Music before the Great Purge. It's a fabulous and gorgeous album. Story and Pictures is wonderful (nb the intro to it is like 2 minutes long so have a little patience).

Apparently he spoke at the Wisconsin Library Association last year, which surprised the hell out of me. I didn't go, but I read his speech. It was about the necessity of archiving material on tape for long term compatibility and how he felt a sort of kinship to archivists because of his passion for that type of

I think what that mainly shows is how little those distinctions meant in terms of marketing to the average consumer. It hardly mattered precisely what was going on under the hood. TurboGrafx-16 games looked better, and 16 was clearly more than 8.

Pink Floyd are like T.S. Eliot to me. I'd never list them as my favorite artist because it seems pretty boring, but I also don't understand why anyone would not like them.

I held off on Pere Ubu until I finally picked up the Elitism for the People 1975-1978 compilation on digital (192khz/24bit no less!). It's absofuckinglutely essential, really. The Modern Dance, Dub Housing, plus all of the best singles. Every track on there is totally necessary.

I feel like I missed N and O somehow, but I doubt anyone cares, so here's my stuff for P.

It's not really a game changer so much as a thematic interpretation. 'Fan theories' are the most hyperbolic of pop culture wankery. It's interpretation, not fucking Midrash, people.

How come Daredevil doesn't dance anymore? Remember the Dare-tusi?

After listening to Channel Orange a few times I realized that I JUST liked Pyramids. I'm going to just skip the middle man this time around and listen to the longest song on the album and be done with it.

Yeah, I don't think Tarr, or Tarkovsky for that matter, are really using long takes to say look what we can do. Tarr's use is much more tonal, slowing the action down, forcing the viewer to wallow in the mire, often (literally in Sátántangó).

Emma Stone has detachable breasts?

I showed my two year old her floor routine and she tried to imitate it, rather poorly, but A for effort. We tried watching her balance beam routine and she got super scared and told me to turn it off.

I'm really susceptible to clicking on Joe Blevins articles and being irredeemably upset that I fell for it. This could could be an interesting article on Feminism, or could lead to a potentially thought provoking discussion (The only reason I click on GJI is for the rare but still exciting discussion by the

I'm just glad that show made people more aware of The Third Policeman.

The scene where Vader contacts Luke is fabulously edited and laid out. When Vader speaks to Luke, I love they way the scenes very rapidly and subtly fade into each other rather than a jump cut. It efficiently tells the viewer that this connection is stronger, we're in the same scene, here, in some ways.

'My grandnpa died of a bloodclot! Pick it up!'
