You’re on the right track. I see the matte grey and tan car colors as an attempt by manufacturers to sell to an American public that has increasingly fetishized the military the past 2 decades. Throw on a set of bead lock wheels, and you now have a “tactical vehicle”.
I worked at a Toyota store 11 years ago. We used to have a beige that we referred to as “Old Man Tan” based on the customers who bought that color.
I’m not even sure why they pay their employees at all. Based on people I have known who have worked at Gamestop and online comments from employees, people would be perfectly willing to be chained up inside the store 24/7 working for free just to have a job selling video games for some reason.
