I’m not interested in this game but why the hell are you publishing an article like this when the game JUST CAME OUT WITHIN THE LAST COUPLE OF HOURS

I dunno if I entirely agree with all your thoughts but I do agree there’s a lot of misdirection happening at the end.

As for the Black Materia, in the original game Cloud gives the Black Materia to Jenova (masquerading as Sephiroth), but they get it back after Aerith dies.

I almost think that he never actually gives it

He stops being Sephiroth sometime while he is in the lifestream, AFTER the original FFVII. One of the novels, and Dissidia Opera Omnia both clarify this point. Then it’s pretty much just Jenova, who forcibly pushed away any memories or identity belonging to Sephiroth (although they seem to still be in there somewhere)

B

There are some bad takes and then there’s this

Performance mode was the way to go before and after the patch

XIII-2 is one of the top 5 best FFs but alright

what

Why is Cap’s head so big? MODOK lookin ahh mf

Oh no I completely agree bout the open world. I already just don’t like a lot of open world games for those reasons, but I can’t chalk that up to “bad game” because I understand that a lot of people actually like that sort of thing.

As for combat, you don’t generally HAVE to juggle all those things at once. There’s no

Other than some poorly designed fights (looking at those solo Corel Prison fights), how is the combat system convoluted? Is it just because it’s not the easy button masher that XVI was?

And only the one area is confusing, the rest is just garbage Ubisoft-like open world. Which I personally don’t like, but I know it’s

Honestly? no

Paraphrasing another post I’ve seen but

I mean, Dread had a way longer development cycle but it did eventually release

Odyssey isn’t my top favorite but the controls were super tight, I dunno what you’re on about

It’s Super Mario World

switch your game difficulty to easy for Fort Condor; your ATB will recharge faster.  I don’t even know how you’re supposed to beat the Hard versions of the levels without going on easy

If the meta narrative wasn’t such a primary focus of the story I might agree. Remake and ESPECIALLY Rebirth outright spoil late game plot points of OG7 very early into the new story cycle. That, and anyone who doesn’t know the story of OG won’t really grasp why these things are such an anxiety for the characters.

Remake / Rebirth are a continuation of the original compilation. They are fully meant for someone who at the very least knows what happened in the original game. You can get by without the other entries but Remake is NOT the entry point

You shouldnt play remake without playing OG7

That was 5 years ago? christ
