I forget the specifics, but I once read something about the poverty line being established by figuring out what it would cost someone for bulk staple foods like rice and eggs.  I don’t think it even accounted for housing.

A lot of people don’t have insurance, and even for those that do, this stuff is typically regarded as “cosmetic” or “not medically necessary”, and thus not covered, and exorbitantly expensive.  Even just getting a doctor to look at it and get a diagnosis is expensive enough to be out of reach for a lot of people.

I just figure twixt the lack of coverage, let alone investigations into those deaths, combined with the concentration camps, and just proliferation of out-loud overt racism, that they are getting bolder...
