Running Linux Mint, and had issues when I first signed up for Netflix. Not real sure what the problem is (was?), but googling around it seemed like people got it to work by using Chrome (not Chromium), which worked for me at the time.

This piece of bad advice (standing in doorways) originated from seeing what was left of adobe buildings, which are generally made of sun-baked brick, but often have wooden frames for doors and windows. Apparently, the wooden doorframes were still standing in the wreckage.

I think the film was well done, but... holy fuck it just evoked disgust and horror from pretty much any angle.

I think I mentioned watching Dogtown to a friend, and that friend mentioned that they wouldn’t watch Lars Von Trier’s stuff, because he did some horribly misogynistic things to the female characters in his film.

I’m not familiar with the system in detail, and it may vary from place to place, but at least in some areas, authors are compensated a certain amount based on the number of times a book is checked out of a library. granted, it’s going to be a tiny fraction compared to the sale %, but there is something.

I think that’s to try to conserve body heat, more then it is to float.

I wish more people understood this. When something horrible like this happens, people aren’t in full control of their actions. Instincts take over. Instincts that evolved to deal with the kinds of threats we encountered on the savannas of Africa a million years ago. Threats that were not assault rifles.
