I wish that I had talked to my dad more about early Detroit. I know that he lived in Greektown when he first moved to Detroit when it was really a predominantly Greek area. He did not like living downtown though, he grew up on a farm so right after WW II my parents and older brothers moved to the suburbs.

My dad lived on the same floor as Diego and Frida while they were in Detroit. I asked him if he got to know them at all and he said no other than to say hi to them in passing. He did say that they were almost always arguing.
