I have never watched a prequel that has managed to make me this invested, and it certainly helps that they have made the “foreknowledge” aspect part of the text.

Some observations..

Over the last few weeks I have seen a lot of people pointing out that Ortegas has been a little two dimensional throughout this season.

It would be nice for Jessica to get a little more time in this universe. The plots were often hit or miss in the Netflix shows but I always dug the performances.

Next they will announce they’re working on a new Star Wars trilogy. Then Season 5 will suck and everything will be cancelled.

I figured she was gonna be reborn via the magic USB tree network? Like her consciousness would become a Navi permanently through alien means..

Remember in the Kelvin movies when Bones said he performed a caesarean on a Gorn?

...................yeah, the context on that has pivoted hard

If/when they spot an oxygen-rich world I’m gonna freak out. Oxygen doesn’t like sitting around in atmospheres as a rule. It bonds to just about everything and should quickly be consumed. In order to maintain an oxygen-rich atmosphere you need an active process to constantly break it back into gas.

It would be thin

I have to agree with all of this. I want to like Discovery more than I do but the format really lets down the characters. There’s nothing wrong with the cast and the production values have always been amazing. A single trek story rarely lends itself to a dozen episodes but even a bad one can fill an hour just fine.

Nerds sure do love doing race science

Four brave astronauts suddenly gain the superpowers of stretchiness, invisibility, being-a-rock, and Captain America impersonation!

I am also a Star Trek V apologist. It has issues for sure (the editing is horrendous), but it had some good ideas. Sybok is actually a really interesting antagonist as Trek movie villains go (which is mostly Khan and a bunch of Khan copies). His methods are unique and blur the line between coercive mind control and

Never gonna happen. That dragon spinoffs gonna kill the whole franchise dead.

If the Sybok future involves bringing back Aspen/Angel as a recurring antagonist, I’m all for it.

I don’t mind all this fun Spock material but I hope they don’t leave the other characters behind. We need some focus-episodes for Hemmer and Erica at some point!

Why do people want this so bad? James Bond is a disgusting character.

For a moment I thought he was playing that other doctor..

Prove it wasn’t!

My favourite part of the ridiculous Fairhaven episode is when the B plot collides with the A and the ship is hurtling through some kind of deadly peril and in desperate need for power. Then Harry dramatically states: “Captain, there’s not enough time to go through the hologrid shutdown sequence. We’d lose most of Fair

Do the hippy spores count as shore leave? I guess it was kind of involuntary shore leave! It’s a good thing travel agencies haven’t discovered them yet.

I’ve been really enjoying how the episodes have blended their A, B and sometimes C plots together with a little thematic flourish.

“I don’t care what the law says! The law bends to MY will! The law does what I say! Do you know who I am? I’m a genius!! KUBRICK!!!”
