I do wonder what role PVOD could play in all of this. I genuinely don’t think a day and date release would stop those who like going to theaters from going while potentially opening a revenue stream.

Most of those subscribers were from losing cricket, not from movies/tv show releases.
The Covid desperation of premium streaming certainly made a change, though. It changed habits around a lot of movies and movies performed less well as a result. The closing of the distribution of window also makes a difference.
And Guardians 2 opened to $145 million.
And the ongoing speculation that Secret Wars is going to be set in the Fox Universe entirely (which this very much backs up, imo)
There has been a theory for a while that Secret Wars is going to be set in the Fox Universe.
It was speculated way before the strike that they had chosen 11/10 specifically because of the promotional window it brought. I’m sure they were hoping to make use of Tom Hiddleston and Zawe Ashton promoting Marvel stuff at the same time. Iman Vellani tends to be fun on talk shows. They usually do SO MANY promotional…
I think that is truly the biggest issue with comparing the current box office to previous MCU movies as opposed to the rest of the 2023 box office. Streaming numbers for Loki certainly suggest people are tuning in.
I’m sure Marvel wants to be making more money and I’m more than willing to accept the moment may have passed, but last weeks box office involved the #1 movie making $9 million. It might be superhero fatigue. It might be the lack of promotion due to the strikes. But every Marvel article ignores that the box office…
I think there’s a good chance he shows up for a movie especially given the Kang of it all, but if not, it’s probably time much as I love Loki.
They are almost certainly trying to get bought by Universal.
I think the trailer is suggesting it is out of control - whether that is going to be age related (i.e. we’re really talking about puberty without talking about puberty) or having a full on anxiety disorder (which would be bold, tbh), the implication in the trailer is that anxiety is steering the ship instead of joy -…
If anxiety is steering the ship - as is implied in the trailer - then the suggestion seems to be that Riley has an anxiety disorder. The console changes color, a whole new emotion shows up.
Now, does this clash with the lore of the first film, which established that everybody, including adults, had some mix of the original 5 emotions, sometimes in different arrangements or alignments? Yes, absolutely, and our senators will be hearing about this issue immediately.
You waited almost a year to make this comment? You’re really up on your news.
Arguably, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was to blame for the trend, but I do think Deathly Hallows had enough plot that had to be dealt with to justify it. The issue was that it then became the norm.
In the age of streaming, a 3-episode limited series feels like a viable option in some of these cases as well, especially something that’s a little episodic to begin with like Hunger Games.
I suspect she had a contract that extended to publicity, but I do agree that you can’t expect a network/streaming service/production company to know what’s going on in your head. The same is true of your non-entertainment employer. If she had spoken up and asked for help and been denied it, it would be a different…
If Ruby Barker explicitly told Netflix/Shondaland that she needed help and they failed to provide it, I would say they had a responsibility to get her support in the moment (as opposed to having her shoot scenes, for example). If she had asked not to promote the show because of her mental health, same thing.
I wholeheartedly enjoyed this show and was really disappointed when it was cancelled.
