In some cases, it’s just about getting the person in the door - If your dad can get you in for an audition and you’re a good performer, they’re going to cast you largely on your merits. It’s the audition part where the connections made the difference. Look at Jamie Lee Curtis - She’s a nepo baby, but she’s also a

His sister’s statement on his death gave a few more (likely) key details: “Rebecca tells us her brother suffered from depression, bipolar disorder and had a sleep disorder that often kept him awake for days.”

I feel like I knew most songs because they appeared in sing along videos or they were re-recorded by some kid-centric group. I definitely had a Chipmunks tape as a small child where Brittany sang Stand By Your Man with Tammy Wynette. Before that, you had the Muppet Show featuring things like Liza Minelli singing

I do think the first Despicable Me movie was actually pretty solid. There’s just no world where we need 4.5 of them.

It’s really hard to make episodic movies. It’s one thing to have a 5 movie plan, but it’s another to leave viewers feeling like barely anything happened in the first installment (especially if said first installment is very long). There’s a lot of stuff I can see working really well in Horizon, but I wasn’t sold on

That was the first thing she said.

Watching JK Rowling’s journey from someone who had a slightly bad take on trans women and a narrow mindset on women = people who have their periods (which is also not a great take for all the cisgendered women with fertility issues) to an out and out transphobe calling all trans people predatory is one of the most

Why is he weird? Because he happens to be talented and proven that he’s more than his family connections? Because again, sort of the point.

Picking someone from another era is kind of the point. The Tik Tokers who latched on to nepo babies are largely unaware that certain actors are also nepo babies (like Jamie Lee Curtis).

I mean, she is right that many people have just discovered there is nepotism in Hollywood and many of them are young people who don’t realize some legit icons are nepo babies. So she didn’t do it “for no reason.” It’s actually a pretty cogent point.

I don’t think I said Wicked was going to be good, but it has a massive built in fan base of theater kids who have been waiting 20 years for it that is going to likely eat up box office space.

Thanksgiving is going to have Moana 2 and Wicked. I assume they are trying to get ahead of those two.

I mean Knives Out was in there too.

I have appreciated how the show has played with what was essentially Anne Rice’s propensity for retconning things in later books when characters (i.e. Lestat) went from villains to heroes. The unreliable narrator trope is really one of the best things about this season. The weaker Claudia was definitely the worst

Claudia, yes, he’d participate in that. I think Lestat has little beyond regret for Claudia. The most sympathetic reading would be him thinking she never should have been turned. I imagine he was expecting Armand to ensure Louis survived.

I think Bailey Bass managed to give Claudia more maturity and it may have partly been the writing, but I think they struggled with “wait, how old do we want Claudia to seem?” which impacted the performance. I think the writing bore some of the responsibility.

Simply talking about things doesn’t make them real. People talk about things that aren’t true or real constantly. My entire point was that people are talking more about Pixar’s struggles than Pixar’s struggles actually existing. Case in point, you.

Hot take: It’s okay for a movie to just be okay and to enjoy it.

You’re not actually supplying any proof of that assertion that a “lot of individuals, enough to make a significant portion of the audience,” have that opinion.
